After an enduring 20 hours of merging open boxes, finding moved objects, and trying to explain why items keep disappearing, we give you Terminal. Terminal is a medium sized objective based map. We have tried to keep it hugely focused on tacital gameplay, while still making it fun and enoyable for any style of player. We are happy to say that it can comfortably support any objective based gametype, and play the more 'slayer' orientated games very well too. There is a vast range of weapons available for Terminal. We have tried to keep weapons that are both fun, but also would be compatable for a 'Conquest' variant. This is the reason that the Energy Sword only appears on aysmmetrical gametypes. The theme of the map is an aircraft hangar. We have painstakingly build the entire map under a 'dome' shaped roof. We tried to create an 'airy' feeling by keeping a vast open space in the centre. We hope you are pleased with the feeling we have tried to create. A push foreward for the Red's is met by stiff resistance The Red's make it through, and go for the flag Biggles offers some support from the back Running Chron's head denies that this bullet made contact A Blue tries to sneak into the Red's base, but is caught by suprise Shock Theta decides to help in the 'disarming' Red's base, after a tough battle The Blue's are quick to defend thier flag against the opposition Looking in from the outside of the dome. Inacessable And here are the makers
Matty this map is a blast! I love it, except for all of that merging, that was a real pain. Anyways this was so much fun even when we were losing. The games lasted for a very long and fun time. It felt really close to playing a LAN party CTF game with your friends. The experience was awesome and I can't get enough of this map.
you would. Matty this map is awesome. Had alot of fun testing it, and can't wait to get a bigger party here. The half-dome is impressive, to say the least, and merging is always a sight to see. Good job Matty, you just keep churnin' em out.
i'm going to give it a 5.5 on the furious review just to make you mad. not really though, this map is actually really great, you and rusty did wonders on it, can't wait to play it again. if we play, i'm going to get my team to brute shot out, just for kicks.
Thanks Rusty, the games were very tense and enjoyable. I know exactly what you mean with it feeling like a Lan Party, and it was so lively and fun we will have to play some more games on it later. Thanks Lightsout, i have managed to have alot of fun in 1v1's, 2v2's and 3v3's. I havnt played 4's though, so i think we should organise a game later and see what its like. Thanks Bnasty, and you can try to get out, but you wont suceed. I look foreward to see what i get for the review, if you choose to review it.
This map is a blast, and very well made... I finally got the video done, I was going to add our epic assault and ctf game but it would freeze up, so I just made the conquest one... running Check out the video here... http://youtube.com/watch?v=RUcGVc4v0z4&fmt=18
Nice work I have played most, if not all of your maps, and you are truelly a genius let me play this one then i'll come back and update
a download it is!! 99th post lol! EDIT: why arent there so many weapons by the back bases? or does that seem to fit the map better
the pics are there imageshack just has been down for a while brute shot, on the side of merging with ground that didn't take rusty forever. or the side i wasn't there for. the tops not blocked off still. its interlocked off on the other side, but no there.
Map link has been updated with a newer version that has that size blocked off like the other side, you wont be able to get out there any more.
got outisde Ive been a pretty big fan of your work Matty, but with this one I wasn't too impressed. You guys did a fantastic job on the scenery, astetics, and interlocking. But what got me confused is why you can A) get out of the map in 4 places (now two since updated) and B) I think that your weapon placement could have been better, because when I am playing here, there are a few spots where I think a weapon should be or is, or at least some grenades there is nothing ( inside merged open boxes, inside little hole in wall, raised platforms, ect.) and it seems like the actual weapon placement was rushed/ not cared for that much? P.s. - I love U-shaped maps for conquest and two flag, and I got out above the horizontally placed A, and B signs, and once out I could hop around the entire map (one base to another) and shoot in from the fence boxes up top, I had a sniper and it was incredibly un-fair as I could hit anyone from above. Pics added in forge so you can see what I was talking about.
Ok. The ways out of the map have been a real bug. I really didnt want to put a Brute Shot on this map but Rusty convinced me of how much it is needed for a Conqust map. And saying that i 'rushed' the weapon placement is incredibly harsh. We spent a good 2 days concentrating on weapon placement. While we were doing all of the 'manual' work that required not much thought process, we were constantly thinking on what weapons should be placed and where. All of the weapons are set for conquest. The weapons are arranged in the centre area because that is where the fighting is set for. There are not very many weapons in the starting areas because we wanted to make it so players didnt stay there for long. The reasons no weapons are in the boxes is because they are set for objectives. The flag plant points are there, we dont want to make people go inside the boxes. They are open boxes merely for extra cover incase the time comes when you are trapped in your spawns. And about getting it out of the map, i will try fix after if i have time. But please re-think what you have wrote, because Rusty and i will agree that is very harsh.
I guess you and I just have different perspectives on conquest, because to me in conquest, most of the weapons are near or inside the bases, so you are well armed by the time you get to the tug of war in the center. As for the boxes, if that is where the objectives are, then that is absolutely fine, I didnt know about that. The reason I say rushed though, is because it just seems like there were open spots that the weapons could have been, (grenades as well) that werent there, and most of the weapons were just on sitting on a spot near the wall where it just didnt look nice. It may not have been rushed, but its just different than my placing, and thats ok. I do like the map overall though, looks pretty nice.
4 BR's 2 Carbines 2 SMG 2 Plasma Rifle 2 Spikers 1 Sniper 1 Sword 6 Plasma Grenades Very small map, low respawn times for weapons. And the fact that it is conquest means you end up running over your teams and enemies bodies all the time, and getting thier weapons too.
