TANGENT :3 Created By: The Mean Description: When people think of halo maps, one map is almost always mentioned. A pinnacle of online slayer, it seems that no matter how hard people try to create new and original playspaces, everyone just wants one map, Lockout. With such an uproarious amount of demands from the community for maps similar to lockout, it's no surprise that community mapmakers would try to step up and, for lack of a better term, strike gold once again. From Guardian to the Cage, even Bungie has tried to bring back lockout with varying degrees of success. People just want to play on the same "perfect" map over and over again across all of the Halo IP. Aspiring mapmakers see how evidently popular this map is and try to recreate it in their own unique way in order to be seen as the next big mapmaker. As a result, the majority of maps found on websites like forgehub are lockout clones. Always popular, and if the map contains interesting aesthetics, are sure to shoot up into the annals of halo history as one of those truly great maps. So without further ado, I present Tangent. It's lockout, but instead of a square, it's a triangle! Everything you always wanted is there! You have the ever popular, to quote great and infallible CHRIS CARNEY, dancefloor: You have the sniper tower to get EPIC NOSCOPES from: You have a shotgun, nicely illuminnated by a GREEN HUE: You have both swords and gravity lifts for COOL JUMPZ: And just in case you think WOAH THIS IS TOTALLY LOCKOUT, here's an overview to calm your 12 year old mountain dew addled mind: Now I know you nerds will never be happy unless you get your SICK WEAPON STATS! Shotgun - 1 Sniper - 1 Sword - 1 Spiker - 2 Needler - 1 DMR - 1 In conclusion, there is a troubling sense in the Halo community where everyone just wants to play the same maps over and over again, and reject anything that could be possibly construed as something new or different. Even worse is that these sentiments are being cultivated by the powers that be, releasing a map pack that plays off of nostalgia.
