Sumo! Created by TrueDarkFusion & TheYavimayan Sumo! is an old rehashed idea that just didn't work previously, but Foundry has opened up the path to make the idea come alive. Sumo! draws upon Japanese Sumo Wrestling where the objective of the competition is to push your opponent out of the ring. We have taken this general concept and adapted it to a Halo map. Now up to 8 people can play in this sumo match, and one doesn't lose when they are pushed out. You must use your wits to push opponents out, splatter the unlucky, and become the sumo champion. To play Sumo! we recommend playing with 2-8 players. When the game begins players spawn next to a ghost. We set the game up so that shooting does no damage, but it is still possible to splatter. Now players must use the ghost's boost function to push their competitors out of the ring. For each second in the ring players receive a point, but for each second out of the ring players lose two points. As for the unwise players who find themselves without a ghost a quick splatter worth five points should teach them to hustle. Each round lasts 5 minutes, but as the round progresses it becomes more difficult to stay within the bounds. At the one minute mark soccer balls are launched into the ring which can become quite bothersome for those trying to not flip their ghosts. Later at the three minute mark an indestructible gravity lift spawns in the center of the circle. Be sure not to go off it as it throws you into the air and out of the hill. Also a quick note, if you want to know if you are in bounds you will be your default color, but if you are out of bounds you will be purple. I see you guys finally did this... most likely works ALOT better than our original idea on Sandtrap... that didn't end well at all...
Would it be possible to make the size of the hill decrease with time? Like have the hill move every minute and set the order of the hills from biggest to smallest?
I like your idea of it getting smaller like the radius going down .50 but if it moved to a different location that would get to tough. In the middle let is stay. Make smaller by .50 every minute since it's a 5 minute game. Hope this helps! vanarcken113
Making it smaller over time would be good idea and make it more like the Fusion Frenzy game. Sounds like a good original idea, I gave you a post over at bungie and queued it.
Yay, it's finally up! Played it Saturday with you guys and oriol, had a blast. In fact, I think that's oriol there in the brown. Pretty fun map, but I probably couldn't handle it after multiple rounds. To keep it interesting, I'd like to see where voodoo's idea would take it.
If you shrink the hill you might want to take out the gravity lift since there wouldn't be a lot of room left.
interesting idea about shrinking the hill. perhaps an alternate gametype for it? in any case, loads of fun as it is. can we run this on friday TGIF ???
I played it with eight people last night, and was very dissapointed. It gets old really fast and doesn't have much to it except a hill you lose points rapidly when your not in. Once you fall off your ghost and die, you get spawned killed for a while until you can finally reach a ghost. This map ended being in no way nearly as good as I expected it to be. Hopefully there will be something better next week.
We played with 8 people on 12/21 Game Night... it was really chaotic and funny... I got bored and decided to just sit atop the grav lift, floating up and down... Then someone tried to splatter me mid-air which was epic fail, and their ghost came floating up all slowly and I hijacked it, mid-air upside down hijack, then proceeded to fall back to the floor and fall out the ghost and get splattered by someone else... i laughed a lot.
