Perfection and chaos collide! And have produced a map so amazing that even the gods have taken note! Why, Zeus himself hath come down from his mountain of thunder and terror to behold the grandeur of this battle. Watch as we cast Hades back to darkened solace with Poseidon’s own trident!

Seriously though man, this map is awesome. It’s been a lot of fun testing this over the last couple of months. I remember when I first saw this, I thought to myself “this is great.” And you have just continued to make it better. I feel really lucky to have seen it evolve and to have played all the different variants. It seems like every week you would have some new iteration that you wanted to try out.

The amount of effort you put into this map really is legendary. I’ve had a ton of fun playing this literally every single time we have played it. EVEN the last time we played when your and Rorack’s team were playing like a bunch of ****’s, and mercilessly destroying mine and Flying shoe’s team, I was still having fun. It was my fault anyway for not balancing teams very well, but people don’t mind too much when they’re playing something this awesome.

One thing I would maybe change though is a Visible Arrow instead of the word “dive.” And I recall I think you did actually have an arrow on the ground, but drunken imbeciles’ like myself played this several times before noticing where the players raining from the sky were coming from. Maybe you could put some sort of doorway structure with an arrow or man-cannon (that players couldn’t actually get into) pointing down? That way players could see it from a ways off.

I was going to mention this to you while we were gaming, but things are always so crazy . . . and then I forgot. If you want, throw me a message and I can show what I was thinking, although I’m sure you’ll be able to think of 50 things better.

We still haven’t been able to play Invasion Slayer on this since some asshole* ended the game early. I am requesting that while we are playing, you remind me until we play it, at least a bunch more times.

I did really like having the Banshee and Falcon on here, but having them gone definitely makes this map much more friendly to players who aren’t that used to the map, and better suited for matchmaking. Like I was telling you before, once we’ve played this like, 50 times maybe we’ll have to make a crazy variant with lots of vehicles and cannons’ o’ fun.

One of the greatest things about this map though, is the lack of complaints I get from players. Custom games can be challenging, and it seems like with just about everything we play, at least one or two people aren’t having a good time. But I don’t think I’ve ever had any complaints about this, which really is something man.

Hopefully this gets featured and gets into Matchmaking, I definitely think this is some of the best user created content out there.

I’m really looking forward to having this as a staple in custom games for the remainder of Reach’s life span, thanks for all the effort you’ve put into this. Guys like you along with several of the other guys from here at Forgehub are what continue to make customs so great

On a side note, the amount of praise this is getting is terrifying. Not because it's undeserved, but because it scares me for my invasion making prospects 0_o

I must say, you really did a good job with this map. What fascinates me the most is how you took out some objects in each phase to reduce lag. Very good job!

I spent a good hour and a half on Summit last night (listening to Burning and Rorak talk about music for most of it) and I still love the map. You put great thought into it and the gameplay shows how well it worked out (third phase is absolutely incredible, and not just from the jump down.) Still, I have a few things I found that could work better, though with the testing it has been put through you can probably make a better decision than I can:

    1. From the side spawn on defense P1 you could throw grenades right from spawn into the smaller, open-topped territory. I don't know how accurate this would be, but I was definitely able to land them in every time. Moving the 1x2 flat incline sticking up between the rocks and the objective could block this view, though it might not look as good. It generally seemed bad that you could throw grenades in that soon after spawning.

    2. In every game I have played, phase 2 is either stormed and lost quickly or defended far too well by taking over the rocky area n front and shutting them down at the end of the bridge and the jump up to the right. If those rocks were less easy to control I think it might balance better. However, as I said I have also seen it taken too easily, so teams may have been unbalanced each time I played. Never the less, the area may be too volatile, switching between un-defendable and easily captured just depending on a very slight change in skill.

    3. Actually, this last one is something that I especially liked. One thing that bothers me in the three Bungie invasion maps is the extremely linear core paths. Even on Breakpoint there is one real way to take it. I feel you did a good job breaking out of this somewhat, with two to three close-knit paths that you can change between based on where enemies are firing from. The shorter path is more open and the covered ones longer, requiring you to choose which risk is more worthwhile. Great job breaking the mold there!

As I said in my post on Hushed, this is one of my favorite invasion maps and one of the very few I feel is matchmaking worthy (well, matchmaking worthy means what SHOULD be there, not what is.) I'm glad to have this to play and learn from for future designs.
