“A twisted corridor where death lurks just around the corner… Set up for Conquest.” Creator: Sasquatch210 Map Used: Sandbox (Crypt) Recommended Gametype: Conquest or Conquest w/ Swords Recommended Players: 6-12 (all numbers supported) Welcome to my second completed post-worthy map, Status Quo. Status Quo is a symmetrical map set up for Conquest. The map’s shape from above is a mirrored, flattened S. This is my first successful Conquest map. Gameplay Specifics: First off, if you don’t know what Conquest is, then… what the heck? How can you NOT know what Conquest is??? It’s only the most awesome gametype ever invented! Now for those of you who know and play Conquest, you’ll find that this map is pretty wide open, which is what I was hoping to achieve. You will find no cover besides the natural twist of the map. Due to its openness, teamwork is pretty critical on Status Quo (basically just as critical as any other Conquest map, really). This map consists of five territories, all with some space between them. Want to change things up a bit and make Conquest even MORE strategic? Try playing Conquest with Energy Swords as starting weapons, no grenades on the map, and normal damage resistance. I really enjoyed playing Conquest like this. Will you? Aesthetics: I really, really like the look of this map, and I hope you do too. There honestly isn’t any one feature that stands out and defines Status Quo (unfortunately), but its overall cleanliness mostly makes up for that absence. Every object on the map is interlocked with others. It is undoubtedly rare for a grenade to slip through one of the few minor rifts. Additionally, red and blue columns are interlocked into corners on their respective sides to provide supplementary aesthetics, as well as base identification (not that that matters much on Conquest games…). Want to see what the map looks like? Well why else would you be here… Check out my amazing Paint skillz (yes, skills with a z) Boxes indicate territories Like what you see? I hope so; now keep going for in-game screenshots! 1 – Red Team Start Area 2 – Red Team View from Spawn 3 – Red Hallway 4 – Looking Back at Red 5 – Red Column 6 – Middle from Red Side 7 – Middle up Close 8 – Blue Team Start Area Want to see where in the map these pictures were taken? Spoiler Sorry my Paint skills really aren’t that phenomenal, but this version of my overhead map points out where each screenshot is taken somewhat effectively. For this to make sense you have to realize that each screenshot was numbered… Weapons! (!!!) Each team gets: ----------- Respawn Time: SMG x2 ---------------------- 10 Plasma Rifle x2 --------------- 10 Sniper Rifle ------------------ 60 Brute Shot ------------------ 45 Frag Grenade ---------------- 10 Spike Grenade --------------- 20 Where the Weapons! (!!!) are on the Map A quick description of the weapon selection… Spoiler There is a Sniper Rifle with one spare clip at each spawn. You would think that because of the open corridors on the map that the Sniper would reign supreme. Not so. It is still an effective weapon when placed in the right hands, but anyone can simply fire a burst to unscope a sniper whenever they want. Each team also receives a Brute Shot with one spare clip. It’s a gun that shoots brutes. What else can I say? Use its ammo wisely. Both teams get dual SMGs and dual Plasma Rifles as well. While not notably powerful, they do mix things up a bit, and are slightly better than Assault Rifles at point-blank range. Finally, each team is given one frag grenade and one spike grenade. Both ‘nades spawn quickly (10 seconds for frag and 20 for spike) and can turn the tide of the war. Action Screenshots (Yes, this map has been thoroughly tested) Spoiler Action 1 Action 2 Action 3 Action 4 Action 5 Have any superb suggestions for a version zwei? Let me know! I’m willing to improve any imperfections to enhance gameplay if there are enough ideas! Thanks! OMG I can’t believe I almost forgot the most important part, the THANK YOUS! I would like to give a very special thanks to… Bungie: For making Halo Microsoft: For making Xbox China: For making pretty much everything else Modern Warfare 2 Soundtrack: For being awesome (seriously, it is) My Testers: Why wouldn’t you guys give me any advice? (jk you guys were awesome) Nazgul: For the awesome Title Picture Block, Double: For always being there (…until I used all 40 of you) Sandbox: Better than just a box of sand Master Chief: For saving the world and stuff Please comment your heart out! (But remember: safety first) Enjoy Status Quo everyone! Download Map
Looking at your diagram I have to wonder why all your territories aren't touching. I don't play alot of conquest but I know that all the territories are supposed to be touching
Although those are the official rules of Conquest, many maps work better when it's not applied. The map looks well forged, and the design is simple and well thought out. I'll give you a full review after playing through the map.
Yeah, I read the exact same thing in the Complete Conquest Description thingy.... -_- Anyways, it looks like it would be a great map (I would DL, but for the lack of me playing Conquest and having a very limited amount of maps, I won't :/), I for one love Conquest even though I don't play it very often.
Very nice map. Plays very well even with the larger teams like 4v4 and up. The concerns about the conquest territory touching thing isn't a big deal to me because it plays so well. 1v1's are really fun too. Great map. Keep up the good work.
nice to see someone bringing conquest back, ever since LD stopped i've hardy seen any. so the weapons, and merging look nice, all i can say is that you should probibly extend the territories so that they are touching, it generally helps gameplay
Looks good. Nice to see someone contributing to conquest again. Something I think you could do is try to add more aesthetics to the map. Judging from the pics, you should have a bit of budget left over. Try some things like - . Vents in the roof (these have been popular lately) . Have a few golden walls . Mount the weapons on the wall with weapon holders or put the weapons on shelves. Just a few ideas, but nice map! 4/5
This map looks incredibly well forged and the tight corridors give the games just that little bit more "Oomph" I thought at first if it was Slayer, it'd be a massive spawn camp until the end but then I noticed that 'Conquest' label. This would and probably does work wonders with so many people by getting the adrenaline rush going. Great map, man!
Hmm. I like this map's smoothness but there doesn't seem to be any mind-blowing aesthetic features. It just seems like the most basic layout possible with a few columns here and there. I guess it would play well though because you didn't take any gambles on the gameplay by adding good aeshetics.
You thanked Bungie, Microsoft, the country of china, the soundtrack of a game, and the testers that gave no feed back before you thanked me. I feel appreciated. I could have got you a real plan view that was completely true to the map if you wanted it. It would have looked more presentable whet done in an cad program over paint.
The first thing I noticed about the map, and something a couple other people have pointed out, the aesthetics on this map are not amazing. The only thing that is aesthetic on this map are the different colored column smalls, which would be fine if you had include more appealing details. You could have done something such as making certain areas "grassy" using tin cups to make the map look more variable, and you could have, like xDarklingx said, used column larges to make some walls gold. Usually the territories that stand out the most in aesthetics are the starting areas and the middle territory, but every single area of this map looks the exact same to me, even the areas in between territories. To me, this is just too plain, so I would recommend adding more aesthetics if you have any left-over budget, and then this map woul be great.
