I was thinking about the mw2 spec ops race styled map that would involve a vip game type. It would mainly be based in the dunes however there will be elevated parts using blocks as well. the parts with the blocks would be 4 blocks wide so there won't be a huge amount of block parts on the flooring. Hopefully trying to make it about 2-3minutes long if that is possible. There will be boulders and columns(to represent trees) and other misc. objects around to make it harder for the VIP. GAMETYPE I have parts of it figured out and there are currently 2 options that I am thinking about at the moment. I will seperate them both to show the differences and then show what the territories and such will be as. Option #1- The VIP team will have 4 mongeese and the VIP must get on the back of one of the others and he will have an smg. If the game is an 8 on 8 game then there will be 3 others on the backs with smgs. The other team will 4 mongeese and have smgs as well. Option #2- The VIP team will have 8 mongeese but no smgs. The other team will have ghost instead. I am not sure how well this will work out. The non-Vip team will most likely have 0 damage. Option #3(slight possibility)- This will kind of stay away from the call of duty feel and make it so that both teams have a VIP and must escort them using the vehicle type as Option #1. BOTH- The VIP team will have about 10 different territories that only last for a certain amount of time. The game will last as long as it takes to get to the last territory plus 10 seconds(hopefully I can figure out a way to do this. It will just take a little bit of math to figure it out). This will take a lot of testing to make sure they are spread apart enough. The game will end after VIP team gets 10 points. The objective of the other team is to push them around and kill them so they do not reach the finish. The VIP will have about 100% damage, everyone else probably about 25% damage if it is Option #1(testing to make sure it is even). The smgs are mainly to throw the VIP team slightly off course to make them slip up and fall. At the end there will be a close to vertical slope going downwards and shooting off a ramp into the last destination(like the game). Questions and Suggestions are welcomed. If you don't think this will turn out will please tell me now before I start the map and if a good number of people don't think it will turn out well I will most likely stop.
This reminds me way too much of rocket race and battle tracks to be an entirely original gametype. The placement of snow mobiles in MW2 was merely for Infinity Ward to test out the idea of vehicles among the Xbox Live community, not to make a great gametype to be copied into Halo. Think of the last level of halo, and that is closer to what you are replicating. Personally I think rocket race is the only capable, open-ground race gametype of Halo. Keep in mind, few people are capable of hitting the broad side of a barn from the back of a mongoose, let alone a moving mongoose.
