Have you ever wanted to make a map where the flag spawns in one location and is captured in a different place? Well, despite popular belief, it IS possible (though tricky)! Say you take a Flag Stand and place it sideways in the air, the flag will fall when it spawns, but the capture point will remain with the stand. Now, I know what you are thinking: "I don't want to have the capture point right above the flag, and I don't want a big hole in my map for the flag to go through!" Well you're in luck due too two helpful properties. 1. The flag always stays upright. In mid-air, on the ground, sliding down a ramp; It won't flip over. 2. The flag has a thin hitbox. If you take blocks and space them apart using the coordinate tool, the gap only has to be a 0.2x0.2 space! Here's a graphic for you visual learners: Do xx xx Don't x Note: The x's each stand for 0.1 points on the coordinate scale. Now how Can you solve those problems? That's your part. However I can offer a few suggestions: Have it drop through a chute then mancannon somewhere else, have it drop straight down, create an elaborate series of ramps for it to slide down, come up with something unique! It passes straight through one-way shields if that helps! I also haven't tested teleporters yet, however you could teleport someone to the capture point... Though I would have liked to be unique with a map, I would just be fooling myself about making a popular map, so maybe this can help some of you.
Pics would be helpful, but regardless this sounds very clever, although Im sure not every map could afford spending extra budget on adding chutes and lifts for the flag, especially considering how much those gadgets cost.
It's definitely not something every map can use. I actually wasn't expecting it too. However, the people who can and want to use it may now realize that it IS possible to do it (though slightly complicated). Nevertheless, I will add pictures tomorrow.
Cant this be avoided by using a capture plate and placing it else where? Cos Im pretty sure you can do that.
You mean simply having the flag spawn elsewhere? I don't believe so. The "CTF_Return" label handles both spawning and capturing.
