Spartan Tag By: TehMasterShake Spartan Tag is a mini game I thought up back in Spring of 2008. After little interest on Bungie.net and lack of testors willing to help here on ForgeHub, I let it fall to the back of my mind. I recently drug it out, tweaked some things, and decided to just post it. Spartan Tag is a variant of Juggernaut in which the Juggernaut is "it." He tags people by killing them, and when they respawn, they lose a point for arriving at the goal point. They then proceed to try and tag someone else to cause them to lose a point. Everyone else should hop in a vehicle and try to stay as far away from the Juggernaut as possible. The person with the highest (least negative) score at the end wins. Due to the fact that the Juggernaut gametype is not granted Starting Points, the scoring system was a bit tricky to figure out. Finally I made a system that works. Players start at the built in spawns that Bungie has around each map (not Respawn Points), as the only Respawn Points on the map are covered with crates at Game Start. This is to prevent the first random Juggernaut to lose a point for being unlucky, and also makes the players randomly (and somewhat evenly) placed around the map at Game Start. Here are some pictures to help explain. At Game Start: After Game Start: After Being Tagged: There is one honor rule in Spartan Tag and it is this: If you are still in the lead after losing your point from becoming Juggernaut, please still try and tag people. Please note that this game is meant to be a fun, carefree game filled with laughs and yells. The points are added for an extra competitive feel, but the point of the game is to have fun. Please don't run around on foot like idiots, trying to kill the Juggernaut. The juggernaut is invulnerable, has instant kills with his Gravity Hammer, has 200% speed, and 75% gravity. Spartan Tag default is no waypoint, but you can change that to your liking as I have had mixed feelings on the subject. The others basically have default settings with the exception of a 0% Damage Modifier, no grenades, and a tweaked shield system to prevent teamkilling with splatters. Spartan Tag default is no waypoint for them as well (an added feature to protect people who would rather hide instead of using evasive driving to escape the Juggernaut.) Maps are basically canvases with vehicles placed strategically around and the special respawn configuration, with the exception of The Ice Rink (Avalanche) which has bases blocked with energy blockers and has the Mountain Tunnel open for pedestrian traffic (Ice Cave is blocked off). No weapons on the map. One "hidden" Active Camouflage with 120 second respawn on each map. Vehicles are indestructable to provide the former Juggernaut with a quick option after he tags someone. 12 minute timer. 5-16 Players (less than 5 gets boring very fast). ENJOY! Gametype: Spartan Tag Map variants: The Park The Ice Rink The Sandbox The Playground Quick tips: -Hit the Back Button after becoming Juggernaut, and go after the person with the highest score. Or just kill the same friend over and over again! > -Keep an eye out as you traverse the map while evading the Juggernaut. If you see someone hiding, remember his spot when you become Juggernaut for an easy tag. -Tweak the settings to your liking. Set everyone to spawn with grav hammers and infinite grenades for an extra dose of chaos (I personally don't enjoy it, but some do). Special Thanks to Valdan for help with initial concept planning, Lt RonaldSpears for help deleting respawn points, and to everyone else that played this with me (testors).
Its a good idea but not fun.It looks like something to play at 3:00 AM and nobody knows what to do.Sorry.Mayb try it on sandbox.
Looks pretty cool. Very simple maybe a little too simple. Looks like you didn't do thet much or at least from the pics. Maybe a different map and some hididng spots and other fun things to do. for now 2.5/5
I agree with the reviews a good idea but I don't see how this could be fun. Try to test it out more and more frequently and if you or the testers get bored then it isn't fun. Nice idea not a good gameplay and could use a better map design as well.
Well, thank you sir, for explaining to me how to figure out if things are fun. I didn't know what fun was before, and now I do. Thanks. Also, glad you think the gameplay sucks after looking at the pictures of the spawn. You people that look at pictures and know what it feels like to play are just unimaginable smart, huh? I mean to actually experience the gameplay from home on your computer screen. Damn. I wish I could do that. I also give you mad props for knowing what the maps look like from the three pictures I gave you of the sky of one of the four maps. You just have mad analyzing skills, and should really become a rocket scientist or something when you grow up. /sarcasm Seriously people. This is a mini game, meaning that it has somewhat of an acquired taste to it, as do all mini games. If you like driving vehicles, you will like this game. Get a group of people together that will actually try and stay away from the juggernaut, and you will have fun. The problem is that people are complete morons and just stand below the juggernaut spawn to try and assassinate him to get their ZERO points. Nice strategy. If you think this might be fun, go and play this with a group of at least 5 people, then come back to me and tell me what you did or didn't like about it, and let me know if you have any ideas on what could make it more fun. DO NOT COMMENT ON MY MAP VARIANTS/GAMETYPES IF YOU DO NOT ACTUALLY PLAY THEM BECAUSE I DON'T GIVE A **** WHAT YOU THINK FROM THE PICTURES.
What did I just say? It would make sense if you read the description. Don't comment if you don't download, especially if you don't even read those little words around the pictures. You know what those are? Words? They really make it easier to "understand what the point is." Seriously. You might as well just spam. GTFO of my thread.
While the gameplay is well thought out the map in no way enhances the experience. A map should always be built to best support it's gametype, and this one really fails in this aspect. Good idea but poorly executed... indeed.
Thank you for the intelligent comment. They have been few and far between on here. I understand what you are saying, but what would you suggest I add? I mean I could add random objects around the map to change the way you have to drive, but since the point of the game is to drive around to escape the juggernaut, the best map layout in my opinion is the one Bungie provides you with. With their natural hiding places and terrain, and their mixture of open areas and tight squeezes, the default maps are already fitted with the parts necessary to make this gametype fun. The maps are designed so that you already know what to expect going into the game. Getting better at this game has nothing to do with learning the map (exept for finding the Active Camouflage), as it does with other custom games (not saying that's bad), but instead your skill at Spartan Tag strictly relies on how you manipulate a map that you already know. Again, thank you for the good comment. I will surely be thinking on your words the next couple of days, trying to think of a way to make the gametype more enjoyable by adding things to the maps. Note: The default settings are without waypoints for anyone, but I personally like it better with the waypoint for everyone to see on the juggernaut and the team waypoints for everyone else. It is set up with no waypoints as a default for competitive purposes, but I believe it is more fun with the waypoints on.
