This has probably been said before but has anyone noticed how in matchmaking you cant get Fuel Rods? Even on your Bungie.net service record it doesn't display the Fuel Rod on the list of your weapon kills.
actually, rockets are more powerful than the fuel rod cannon so power isnt the reason why its been removed. the FRC is just a glammed up slightly more powerful version of the brute shot. However, because of the constant green glow and light transitions caused by firing the FRC it can cause lag in games which is why bungie removed it, along with the sentinal beam. Because that has constant light rendered in its firing mechanism. Firing a Gun in Multiplayer games is the cause of lag, because its not just about pulling a button, for the game, its about trajectories, damage counters, hit boxes, appearances, possible outcomes, nearly everything what happens in a game is instantly calculated when anyone touches the trigger button. Because it has so much data to deal with already, adding extra strain on the console and connection isnt a good idea because it will cause more lag and dissapointing outcomes. Long story short, its too hard for some connections to run the animations of the bullets in those guns while calculating all the physics what really matter. Its just too much work. The flame nades were taken out for power sake though.
So that must've been the reason they didn't put BUNGLE on matchmaking for a day because they knew that the setinal beam would lag it out and the fact that it was a joke. But BUNGLE did turn into a 4v4 or 3v3 recon tournament.
Eh? Fuel Rod Guns have 5 shots per clip. You may not have as much of a chance at killing someone with a single shot, but you could really screw someone over with a few shots. It's also much more efficient against vehicles (partly because of slight homing) since it can tip them with only one shot. You can usually headshot the people once they get out. It really is a balance issue, having a 2 shot kill weapon like that which can realistically have 15 shots upon spawning. Of course, it's probably not in matchmaking because bouncing it off surfaces, the trails they produce, homing etc take up a lot of processor power, and would lag things up a lot more than other weapons. Same for sentinel beams and firebombs.
He was joking, IMO. Bungie has stated that Fuel Rods aren't in MM because of the direct lag caused by them. /thread.
