Solstice Solstice is a circular arena built for fast paced game play. The map has a minimal weapon layout consisting of: 2 Battle Rifles 2 Carbines 2 Plasma 4 Frag 1 Mauler 1 Default OS - 60s Game types supported: Team slayer CTF KoTH Oddball Thanks to everyone who helped test yesterday, I was really quite drunk. The map needs more testing so what I need from the community is for you to play the map and leave feedback on what works and what does not. I fly to Norway today to see the beautiful Skyfish so I wont be online a lot. However I will be on the forum more than usual so Ill be taking notes for changes to the map. Solstice
Sexy and great map is sexy and great, though I still don't understand your logic behind having an open bottom mid with no power weapon... sure you can run flags but it's basically a death wish unless you have the greatest set up known to man...
Yea gotta agree with the all knowing premium a power weapon in the center could be a good idea. Otherwise why go out into the open. As for the physical map layout however, its great. It looks like you spent some real time and effort into the map. You used the grass in a nice way to as a subtle ring outside that adds a nice personal touch and a change of scenery from the typical stone masonry well be seeing a lot of.
I never even hinted at the necessity of a power weapon in the middle, I was just openly questioning the thought-processes that lead him to leave that area free from power weapons...
I never said that a power weapon would be necessary either but stated it could be a good idea. And put a question "why else venture into the middle" as the reasoning behind why it could be a good idea. Im not saying anything is necessary and was just explaing my thought process as to my point of view not demanding he changed his. I did misinterpret your first response so Ill apologize for that but my statement about the weapon in the center stays.
Solstice reminds me of your last circular arena map, Singularity. They both offer such great BR practice matches that may improve the BR's of players. I love how you made your map a highly over used theme, yet quite an original design in my opinion. The arches were a nice touch to the map. I don't know how KoTH will work out though seeing from the pics that there are only two possible hill locations on the map. CTF looks epic. Nice job.
This map is very pretty, and the structure is very nice. CTF and slayer look like a blast. I know you want fast paced gameplay, but a rocket with no clips in the middle seems like a good power weapon to use so that the middle platform (which is beautiful) will have more use and will be a territory to fight for. The 60 second spawn for the OS seems a very short spawn time, I recommend using a custom powerup and having a 120-180 spawn, especially in an MLG map. Really well done.
Baron said he was drunk so i think he has quite the excuse haha Oh and garfunkle, i playtested multiple times last night and the 60 second os works great. Just run some 4s on it and you will see what i mean.
Yeah, about the map. Great forging and stuff, it looks really well to play on. Except for that middle piece, what could you do about that? I really agree with Ivory Snake and that you should at least put a power weapon there. Unless someone is mentally handicapped, they shouldn't find much reason to use that middle.

OMG this is a kick ass map! (Excuse the language), this is the sort of map I've been looking for on sandbox's sky box. This map's interlocking is clean and smooth and the design is perfect for the any or at least most sky box maps, with a ledge in a complete circle and a sweet middle structure to go along with it. Man I hope the next maps you make or just as great or even better!
The middle serves as a hub to get across the map faster, i rarely use it for flag runs BUT it works great for cutting off someone else's flag run on the outer part of the map. Baron i think this map is fine without a major power weapon. Would you consider having a plasma rifle instead of the mauler though? The mauler was severely underused and maybe a PR could better balance the constantly spawning red os.
I used my own gametypes when playing this and it really works with any FFA game i threw at it. Needler starts with smg secondary was pretty fun. The map is very clean to not many noticable errors or even important ones. I think anyone will like this one its a good areana ffa map.
I personally have ran the flag through bottom mid sucsessfully several times, it is by far the fastest way possible to get a cap, please play the map before making comments like these. Found some ways for you to save budget and all that good stuff hit me up over XbL and I'll show em' to yah. EDIT: I also like the idea of a PR or maybe even a PP, I somehow managed to skip Hectors second post, hence the edit.

great looking map! i agree with just about everyone else though about putting a custom in the middle it would definately concentrate the fight more towards the whole map and not just the sides. also i don't know if you hit the object limit or whatever but i would also put some rails around the edges in certain places just so you can walk off but other than that its great
Great map, and yea i agree with some of the other, i power weapon in the middle of the map would be good. Either way a love this map alot, and i love the center structure, keep up the good work dude.
