I was taking 12 hours, then I decided to take another course and opted for Sociology. I added the course last night. When I checked Blackboard, I found that I have a paper due Sept 2. That's in a couple days. Here's what it's all about. Assignment ONE: Sociological Imagination paper. Students will be asked to write an analysis of what is like to live as a person from another racial or ethnic background. Submit Assignment on blackboard ONLY. (See Blackboard Under Assignments). The purpose of these papers is to write grounded, evidenced-based arguments about particular issues. Instructions: 1) Pick a new racial Identity. What are the social norms? How are they different than your current racial identity? Define and explain tolerance and its overall role in society about your new racial identity. 2. What are the costs of racism? How can individuals and communities fight racism? Double spaced, apa or mla format Two page minimum. List sources if used (bibliography). DUE DATE: Sept. 2 If you have any helpful input, it would be appreciated.
So your professor is basically asking you to list all the social stereotypes and make them apparent to anyone that may be unaware? I don't have much advice, that's too bad its due in two days. =\
I had my first class with her today and she's a terrible teacher. Basically I have to pick a race that I am not and write it from their perspective with regards to society.
Soc is a horrible, horrible course dude. Especially if it's an early/intro course. I do not recommended anyone ever take the course. Lol.
I'd just say it's exactly the same. It's not what race you are, it's where you live. African Americans who live in the suburbs with the majority white would have the same kind of social norms as the rest of the people in the area. Basically just write something saying that, and boom, done.
