So for the Hub of the Dead II Contest, I made this map that completely ate away at my time as far as testing and building and making the narrative for it went. However, in the end, I missed the deadline by MINUTES. Plus my map was posted in the wrong thread since I rushed it -_________- but in the end, I made a 13 page narrative, consisting of my highest level of writing and 7700 words. Plus, this is probably my best-forged map, and the narrative fits the map perfectly. The aesthetics and gameplay aspects came out better than anything I've EVER made. The map is my greatest overall work, as far as aesthetics and concept go. I started a whole new infection series, and since I'm an in-work TGIF host, I could always get the map tested at least once. Overall, I worked against the clock to get an amazing map done that I didn't even get to submit. The moral?
Post your map first, then add the narrative later? Or maybe: Take pride in making a good map and don't worry about a contest?
Yeah... The Hub of the Dead contests was about the MAPS, not their stories. If you missed it by minutes, you probably would have been better off by not wasting all of your time typing a 13 page story that doesn't actually affect the map itself, the piece being judged. I don't think many people even want to waste their time reading 13 pages before playing a map. Basically, you would get one response: TL;DR.
