    Guide For Small Maps

    Created by Phillip D.

Hmmm, where to begin. Some of you might know that small maps can be one of the most versatile kind of map you can make. Small maps can be used for Mini-Games, Infection Games, Or Slayer Games. But Im going to specify on Slayer maps today.

Why Small? Well, small maps are the most efficient with team double or one on one games, as well as free for all and team slayer, and with small maps you can choose what type of map you like. For example you can have a Tunnel filled map, or an arena styled map, or even a mix of both.

How should i make multileveled maps? There are many ways to go about making a multileveled map, and it could be different for everyone. But the way i do it is to outline the area you want with multiple floors with boxes or walls. Once you've done this you should fill in the area with boxes on their sides (Because single boxes are not perfect cubes, their width is slightly smaller then their height.) And place walls over them. you can now interlock the walls and delete the boxes. Its pretty straight forward once you get it down. This process is also good because when you interlock walls and floors, everything will already be the right height.

Map Aesthetics? Small maps are much easier to incorporate aesthetics into because you will most likely have more money when your done and there isn't as much to work with. But you don't want to over fill your map with aesthetics because maps that are small and busy tend to make players sick. A great way to add aesthetics to a map is by doing something as simple as making a inaccessible room that players can see through a fence, and fill it with vehicles, weapons, fusion coils, safety cones, ect.

    Weapons?
Depending on the map size and type you will want between 4 and 6 types on weapons. Also depending on your map size and type you should only have 1 or 2 power weapons. But most of the time it might be better to have none at all. You want a good variety of weapons, but also ones that will benefit each other. Don't pick weapons that will be taken advantage of on certain maps. For example a Shotgun/Mauler on a tunnel map might not be the best idea, but if you have to have one put it in the most open area on the map with 0 clips and 120 second respawn time.

Equipment? Well, on small maps equipment can almost be used as a power weapon. If you choose to use any, you should use equipment that will protect you like a Bubble shield or a regenerator.

Grenades? Depending on how man people the map should be used for tells you how many grenades to use. A 1v1 map should have 2-4 grenades. A 2v2 map should have 4-6 grenades. If your maps can support more than 4 people than use 6 grenades. The types of grenades depends on what you like and how they will play on your map.

Well, thats all for now. If you have any questions lease ask or send me a message. Ill be updating with more info regularly.
