There's no use hiding the fact that this is almost an Avalanche remake of sorts. I wanted to make a very solid map with a combination of custom structure building, as well as symmetrical balance, and weapon/vehicle spawn balance. I've learned a lot from this project, and am proud with how far it's come, so I'm not ashamed to post up a preview.

These images are from an earlier build. Minor adjustments have been made since these were uploaded to Bnet.

    - This is an overview image of the map itself. You can see the general layout is nearly identical to the horseshoe-shaped map of Sidewinder/Avalanche, hence the unoriginal name of Sideswipe.

    - Here is Red Base, with Red Turret in the foreground. Due to my location, the Turret bases are swapped in comparison to Avalanche.

    - Blue Base, Human attackers. A few slight alterations were made to Blue Turret so now it isn't as fortified as it looks in this screenshot.

    - My favorite part, the mid-section Man Cannons. There are Hard Kill volumes covering the floor of this section, thus infantry must take the man cannons across (or use a jetpack). This has been tested thoroughly; there is no collision damage whatsoever when taking these lifts!

    A few notes:
    > Originally, I was going for a Covenant vs Humans type of asymmetrical gametype layout. However, due to the huge increase in cost of adding additional vehicles, this feature had to be cut.

    > The Bases' layouts are very different from the inspirational sources. In Sideswipe, the main base structures are actually in the far corners of their respective sides, with the original Avalanche base locations being nothing more than a pretty corridor to counter-balance the fact that it's super easy to cross between bases via TopMid Shotgun.

    > CTF is the primary gametype in mind for construction and balance. The Flag locations are on the upper walkways in front of the side-spires. On Blue Base, it'd be on the left as you can barely see the UNSC capture plate above the Scorpion Tank and Warthog.

    > As seen in the overview screenshot, Red Base is a little further back than Blue Base, but is close to the middle of the map. Testing distance travel times, players will reach the Shotgun at about the same time.

    > At each base, there is a Man Cannon at the far wall (seen on Blue Base just to the left of the center tree). These will launch Infantry straight towards a small structure near the center of the map, on the opposite side of that bases' field. These structures use doubled-up one-way shield doors to provide cushion to prevent collision damage. I am proud of these lol.

    > Unseen in the screenshots, I've added Man Cannons on top of the "Stunt Ramp" structures in front of each base and One-Way Shield Door in each respective window, facing inward. This allows vehicles and infantry to ramp up and launch into the bases, just like Avalanche, and the shield doors slow down infantry so there is no collision damage.

    > Weapon spawns are nearly identical to Avalanche, since I'm using that as a basis for balance and will alter the map according to playtesting. The only alteration would be Grenade Launchers in place of Brute Shots, one Needle Rifle in each base, and one Needle Rifle at the bottom of the horseshoe.

    > Vehicles are as followed: Wraith x1, Warthog x2, Ghost x1, Mangoose x2, Falcon x1.

Well, there we go. The map is almost complete; I'm currently making some minor fixes to the new man cannons and will set weapon/vehicle spawn times when I get another chance to work on the map.

    Edited by merge:

I'm nearly complete with this map, but we're still a few people short of BTB testing.
