If you are in the wild on a safari, and you are attacked and killed by a lion, that lion would not be hunted down and killed, because you took the risk of going to observe a very dangerous animal. Dogs should be treat very similar in these situations. Yes they are a pet and they are great ( i have one ) but they do not understand our way of life, our laws and boundries, so the dog dannot be blamed fully for doing something that the master made it more than capable of doing. On the other hand, clearly that dog is dangerous. If it managed to kill a man, it is clearly quite vicous and is therefore a risk to society. Putting it in a dog home would only cost the tax payer, give the dog an awful life and put the other animals and people in there at risk of attack. I have grown up all my life with animals. I had a dog since i was about 3, who unfortunately died last year, and i have had a dog since about 7 years ago, aswell as a cat. I have never had a single problem with animals, and i have been attacked by my own dog when i was about 4 or 5, and i knew it was my fault so it never changed how i felt about them.
im sorry if you didnt understand my post, or if i didnt make clear my intentions. by threat, i mean a very real and obvious threat to life. I do have a dog and like him a lot, but to think his life is equalled with a dogs is silly. i believe i didnt say carelessly killed, only if they provided a threat to humans. As to the safari arguement, i dont know about you- but when i walk down my street, i dont expect to be mauled by a pack of dogs and have no consequences occur. when you enter a safari, you are given safety advice and are told that you are in a dangerous environment. it is a choice to enter, it is not a choice just to be in a city, you are not told to beware that people keep killer animals on hand.
Who cuts down a tree because someone walked into it? Who would commit genocide because a cat cut someone? Don't just come up with inane comparisons. The dog killed someone. It didn't just scratch someone, or hurt their knee, it was used as a deadly weapon to kill. It sucks that it has to be put down, but you just have to suck it up and get over it. It's a fact of life.
Yes, because the value of a dogs life is very important, I believe they should have a great family. Also in the episode I watched was a person got a puppy and didnt want him anymore because she found at that he was going to get really big, so she dicides she was going to yeuthenize him. But instead they sent the dog to a nice family, but something got messed up and he ended up at a dogfighting place.
