i mean, like all the forgehub veteran forgers should remake their featured/hit maps in forgeworld because im sure they would become 10 times better. for example, ill throw a map out there for you guys to chew, swallow, and get the big picture of what im saying: reflex by matty (or whatever his GT is.) and the main question to discuss ; do you think it is worth it to remake maps from halo 3 to reach for the purpose of remastering, revising, and transfering data from old game to new? (so you can play your favorites on BOTH games,) and if you do, what would you like to see get remade? oh by the way guys, i have recieved only one valid reply, since all the other people read the 2nd REPLY instead of my actual post. now, since your all being stupid and really replying to thegreathibiki's post about FORCING them to remake their maps, and not replying to MY thread which is ASKING them to remake, im going to be stupid back. you people are idiots for jumping to conclusions about the intensions of my thread due to one reply, and for turning on your flamethrowers and using them on a completely neutral discussion. i dont care how much of a respected member of this website you are, the experience bar under your name cant show stupidity. if you flamed, your a moron. end of story. if you didnt, thank you, i appreciate it. alternate, twist end of story.
I don't think any of the H3 maps should be remade. They were made for H3 and in H3 is where they should stay. I'd rather see new, great maps that become classic hits from the Hub vets. If they want to remake it, great. I don't think we should ask them though. They are intelligent enough to know if their map would survive/ benefit the changes of H3 to Reach. My opinion.
Agreed. No one should be FORCED to remake a map no matter how good. Reach isn't H3. I myself and remaking several of my H3 maps because simply there was so much more I wanted to do with them all but the budget or item limit screwed me over. Reach looks atm as a way to change that.
No one should ever be Forced to make a map Because it wont be made as good as if it was made out of love.
If you want to see a certain design redone, message the original creator and suggest it to them personally or ask permission to do it yourself.
im not a a hub veteran but ive made a few maps in my time. There are maps which i feel i have unfinished business with due to halo 3' forge constriants, i will be rectifying this in reach. In terms of people recreating popular maps, i would be more interested in seeing what new ideas they have come up with.
People are over reacting, he said should they be asked to remake the maps, not forced. By this I think he was just trying to bring up the discussion of whether it is worth the effort remaking all the top maps. He just asked it as a different question which in itself sounds a bit pushy TBH, no I don't think they should be asked. I don't think it is worth remaking them either. The new tools available in Reach would make it easy to remake the maps, but if you think about the extra time that it would have taken if you didn't have the tools, I think you could either re-imagine the idea and make it better.
I've been asked multiple times to recreate my big hits when reach comes out. I have no problem when people ask when it's usually is a compliment toward your previous work's achievements. Without a doubt I'd improve my maps that have room to grow strong versatile design. With the issue of being forced or not any good forger knows that's not the real problem. I've been through "milking" plenty of times, also known more commonly as free labor. If you're good enough to know people appreciate your work then you're good enough to know that the privilege isn't just about you making good maps, but the privilege that you give people to play your good maps. This is especially true when you don't see a dime
We're talking user created content, not on-disc bungie content. I'm going to be revisiting some of my old ideas, but it's not going to be a piece for piece remake, it'll just have the same core concept behind it.
I'll be remaking a few of my efforts I believe. I also have a **** ton of new ideas though, so I suppose it's literally just whatever comes first.
as i mentioned in my thread, one of the key words i mentioned was "revise" that my friend is the answer to your misunderstanding --- your question is suspiciously simular to the one above your reply. revision, revision, REVISION!!! sure, even better maps can be made, but it would be amazing to see just what the veterans really wanted to make their maps look like, but were cut short to the objects allowed in H3. im sure that the remakes would not just be cleaner, but also would have even more in them, thus you can say that it is a new, better map in itself. that answer your question?
Okay here's me not reading any of the others posts. I plan of remaking a few of my maps, but I probably won't remake any of the features
u mad? The problem with remaking or reviseing maps is that you'll have to addopt them to Reachs gameplay, especially with the addition of AAs. You'll have to change a lot of things if you want to achive the same flow as in Halo 3. Guaridan for example will play shitty with Jetpacks, to take the JPs some of their power, you could close the entire bottom area up, which would destroy the Maps LoS.
You know, after working on a map for many hours, the last thing a forger wants to do is to do it all over again. I know that it'll take less time, but most people want to make something else. If you want to play old maps, get a few of your friends to briefly go back to Halo 3 with you to play them. Personally, I never want to build a C-21 Dragon again.
Personally, I'm going to remake two or three of my maps. There were plenty of times where I thought that certain areas would look cooler if I tweaked them in a certain way. But sadly, the lack of tools and techniques forbid me from doing so. But all that is going to change once Halo: Reach comes out. No more will you have to settle for less, and let your map not live up to your fullest expectations. Sure the gameplay might slightly be altered if you do tweak 'em, but hopefully it will be for the better.
No we shouldnt. Since Reach is a new game. We need new material. Not remakes unless they were absolutly amazing
I'm currently planning on doing a sequel to Remedy in Halo: Reach. It'll be good practice to test out the capabilities of forge with a familiar design. I can test out making structures and layouts embedded into my memory with new tools which will then, no doubt, inspire new content.
