I had read this a few days ago, but it just hit me why it seemed really odd to me. You want people to give you concept art, and I see their artwork. You can take that and build out some geometry for them based upon their artwork, and it may provide the basic game play elements that tend to work. But I think you are pointing out here that it won't be top tier game play experience. That leads me to ask, isn't this whole thing backwards? Shouldn't you be providing levels that have outstanding layouts and then have others offer artistic elements to make it look great? Then you can choose which map looks the best, the one you like the most? That way it has the best game play and the best art applied to it? If I were looking for a highly competitive map for the playlist (do the playlists even have "highly competitive" game play any more?), I would go to someone who I knew could assemble a great playing map for me and then apply the textures that I thought would make it look outstanding. I think the order matters here, ya?
