Hello to all "ForgeHubbers"! I don't know if that's a true word, but whatever. Anyway, I have a new map I want to showcase. It is purely for Invasion, and uses the entire Canyon of ForgeWorld. It's called Sea Wall, mostly because it takes place on a huge military outpost spanning the width of the canyon. Before I provide a link for it, though, I want to hear what you think about it. First off, here are the rules for the gametype, conveniently named "Invasion: Sea Wall": Attackers: Elites Phase 1: Assault (4 min.) Arm Time: 15 sec. Disarm Time: 10 sec. Human Ordinance: DMR Covenant Ordinance: Needler Rifle Phase 2: Territories (5 min.) Capture Time: 30 sec. Float Time: 7 sec. Human Ordinance: DMR, Rocket Launcher, Mongoose x 2, Falcon Covenant Ordinance: Fuel Rod Gun, Ghost x 2 Phase 3: Assault (5 min.) Arm Time: 20 sec. Disarm Time: 10 sec. Human Ordinance: Sniper Rifle, Spartan Laser, Gauss Warthog Covenant Ordinance: Focus Rifle, Plasma Launcher, Plasma Cannon, Wraith, Banshee *All Loadouts are identical to those used in default Invasion variants made by Bungie. Images Overview. The Sea Wall itself is further off. Elites must carry the bomb to one of two arming points at the Defensive Bunker, the wall closest to you. Spartans must, as expected, prevent that from happening. The Outpost. For Phase 2, the Elites must convert this small but vital structure, as this is the spawing area for the bomb, as well as a Plasma Cannon, in Phase 3. See that tunnel on the right? Elites can utilize the cavern to flank the Spartans in Phase 1. The Sea Wall. Magnificent, isn't it? Unfortunately, it's too big to show in one photo. Doesn't it kind of remind you of a certain map from Halo 2? [title=Containment]>>It should...!<<[/title] The bomb must be carried to the central walkway (the thing with all the Glass Cover pieces...) and armed in order for the Elites to win. The Elites' Motor Pool. The two Ghosts spawn in Phase 2, and the Wraith and Banshee spawn in Phase 3. The Spartans' Motor Pool, plus an additional view of the Sea Wall. The Falcon and two Mongooses spawn in Phase 2, and the Gauss Warthog spawns in Phase 3. A fellow "ForgeHubber" named "FlyingshoeILR" is hosting an Invasion playdate soon, which is where I can, hopefully, accomplish a first official test of this map, plus the gametype. If you'd like to sign up for this game night (date TBA), click here. You'd better hurry, though, time is short and space is limited! Well, let me know what you think, and I'll be looking forward to your feedback. Thanks for your time!
This was a fun, standard invasion experience. It was pretty well balanced when I played it. I liked the vehicle set as the gauss hog actually worked on this map. As long as you got rid of the "fixed" weapons, this should turn out really well.
Thanks. I did go around and fix all the... well, Fixed Weapons, not just on this map, but on all the rest of them. So, no more glitchy weapons! YAY!! Hopefully, I'll be able to test this out in the next few weeks. I shall let you know how it goes.
Wow, thanks for the publicity! We have 12 players now, so lets get this together soon, maybe this weekend. Honestly, this looks very well thought out. Many invasion maps forget to put gameplay first, which you appear to have worked for. I hope I can play it soon! And more people can sign up for the testing; just because 12 signed up doesn't mean 12 will come at once.
Mr. Shoe - I might be able to help you playtest, if you wouldn't mind if I slipped a game into the mix. It's not invasion, but it's a not-dissimilar thing I made that needs at least 12 players to really work. The basic idea is speedflag, where one team gets the "enemy" flag right at the start and has to run it from end of a massive map to the other. It's played in rounds and the map has an invasion-style progression, though it plays a lot quicker since the whole thing is vehicular. Anyway holla at me. I'll be on probably some hours tonight (6 pm and later) and again during the morning/afternoon tomorrow, I imagine.
Something in my gut tells me that FlyingShoe is going to host the game night on the one day where I won't be able to play and fully test this map, which is likely the only opportunity I'll have for a while (colleges and related...). I don't know what day that is yet, but I have a feeling...
