Schism is my first map in Forge that I have completed. The tools in Halo 3 were far too clunky. But despite that, I had hoped for a patch or download to make Forge easier in those days. I wanted to forge. I wanted to create a map. I wanted to join the ranks of the army of master mapmakers on the very site you are on right now. But, me being me, I did not have enough patience to make one. I tried my hand, yes. I made a few maps, sure. But were any of them even comparable to the maps on ForgeHub? No. They were hole-in-ones on a 5-stroke par course. Mine were 7-overs on a par-3. Then I saw the Forge World ViDoc. I was stunned. I knew that this was it. I thought "I will join the ranks! I will make a map, and I will like it!" And if I may say so, I think I completed those hopes. I have alot of fun on this map, I have played it with my friends, and they like it. I even had enough confidence to submit it to the Forgetacular contest. Nonetheless, I decided to begin with a symmetrical map. Start with something simple. I made the map, made some spawn points (unlike half the maps I find online), and played some slayer. I liked the map. I added some weapons, cleared up some glitches, added some more structures, fixed more glitches, made it work with all gametypes other than race and invasion (it's a bit small for those gametypes) and I think I came away with a pretty good map (it's still my first finished map, so give me a break for still not being completely up-to-skill as other ForgeHubbers). So have fun with Schism. It has done me well. Weapons! You look like you have immense potential as a forger, as the structures that you did build are clean and organized. I think there is only one thing holding you back from being an excellent forger: map design knowledge. From what I can tell, there is little to no flow in between bases that will keep gameplay exciting. I suggest you read some guides here on Forgehub to put your Forge skills to good use. I highly recommend the one on Map Design Theory in the Forging 201 section of this website. If you can pick up these skills, I think you have the potential to be an amazing forger.
