Scatter-ball is a project I've been working on for awhile now. A few months ago it was a lot more complex but had a few bugs. With the ricochet gametype and help from Willian Konczak it's finished. Send a message to "William Konczak" saying you'd like to playtest the map if you'd like to be involved. Here are some pictures. The game is pretty straight foward, get to the other side and throw the ball into one of the 3 goals. Supports 10 players. Everyone has scattershots.
This looks really nice actually. A very simple game with a cleanly forged arena is just what the Ricochet game type was made for. I love the idea of throwing the ball into one of 3 holes too. In relation to what Zandril said, maybe you could have a variant with extraction cylinders in front of the goals, so that players must destroy them before they can score. It would perhaps solve the issue an open map could potentially bring about. Feel free to invite me to any testing lobbies if I'm online, I'd be happy to help test.
This looks soooo clean... Man, this looks great. One question though, I can see Ricochet working with this easily but what gametype and mechanism did you want to use before? Because a few months ago we didn't even know about Ricochet, just curious
before, i had used griffball and the floors were dominion shields, under the map was a goalie that also had a laser and could shoot out the dominion shields from under the other players. though this was fun it just had some flaws, like players breaking the shields with the ball, goalies killing teAmmates and the goalies would get bored. there were a few different versions but that was the one this is based off of. by the way, thanks everyone who has commented, i didnt reply to everyone cause im on my phone at the moment. ill reply to each of you later if i dont have to double post.
Played this a few days ago and it was a blast! Actually, the map is bigger than it looks, and you have to be past the center line to be able to throw it in. Even then it will take some practice, 'cause quite a few times I thought I had it and it was falling short.
Yeah, the farthest you can score from is about 40% away from the goal and it takes some practice. People without the ball can jump slightly higher as well, so it allows you to block if you are close. The ball holders advantage is the higher speed.
