I just had a cool idea for a gametype, but I have no idea how to make it. It would be called "Save the Princess" and you would have to do just that. I'm thinking something like...one player spawns inside the enemy base, but right next to a 1-2 minute invincibility. They get a plasma pistol or something along those lines. The attacking team must kill the princess, while the defending team must kill off the attackers. It could end after 5 minutes or so. I need some help to iron out the details though. I'm not exactly sure how it could be done. Any help?
It doesn't sound like you need a lot of help, you've got it pretty much figured out. -VIP escort gametype (VIP=forced color pink). You'll be able to set the round time here. -You can set the VIP traits to give the protectors better shields/health when they're in a very close proximity, but it'll work on the enemies too if they are close enough. -Have the Princess locked in a tower (make a door that can be moved with a portable grav lift like Cosmic Rick's Temple of Doom map), and the good guys/bad guys start at opposing ends of the castle and try to make it to her first. Give the good guys access to the 'key' (the grav lift), so they can rescue her and set the escort point to the front gate of the castle. Hope this was what you were looking for and it helps you.
Just a suggestion if u just spawn him in the base whats to stop him from spawn killing instead do like squidhands said then give him nads so he can just rain nads on the opposing team that way u dont get the spawn killing but the vip still gets to have some fun but like i said just a suggestion
Yeah, I always forget about giving the VIP something to do. Although it's "nades", not "nads". I'm not throwing my balls out a window for anyone!! Something else came to me when I read LEGIONs post. It's a little tricky, because you'd have to be facing the correct way... -Along the lines of tossing grenades out the window, why not equipment as well? Like a Regenerator and a Deployable Cover, it has to be two pieces of equipment so that when you do the swap next to the window, It'll be effectively thrown out into a courtyard or something where the fighting can take place. Or hell, maybe even the "key" that I was talking about. That could make it interesting, especially being more up for grabs like that.
Great ideas guys. The grenades/equipment ideas are sweet. Does anyone want to make a map/gametype? I'm kind of in the middle of a map right now. If nobody wants to, I'll just do it afterwards.
Yeah, that is one of the negatives of posting from work. I did read the other responses, just couldn't pick apart every word. I had to skim them. My bad.
You might just want to try using one of the cooler pre-made castle maps and adding to it to make it fit the gametype with the tower and what not. I think I saw a couple that even used shield doors for the moat... Thanks, but it was a team effort. I wouldn't have thought of it if you didn't mention the grenade throwing scenario.
