All of the fixes I've tried for the glitches on sandbox have not worked and until they patch them and now I think I am going to go back to forging on foundry. Does anyone else feel the same way?
Only if foundry had some of the objects sandbox has like the wall with the slit for windows. And of course the grid and a square instead of having a big wall down the middle of your map. Bungie always does something good but the just seem to have to **** it up, by putting somthing gay in it. Like the crypt does not have straight walls, so you can't put something flush agianst it. The skymap is cool and all but you have to use so many objects just to make your floor. Then for the mid part of sandbox, they don't even give you a good rectangle. They got the god damn sand going on the squares which mess everything up. And all the glitches they have in it are rediculous, im at a hault right now with my map because some how i can't put any objects down even though i have 39 dollars left, nore put down spawn points down beacause it says there are too many objects. I have made my floors perfectly flush and even then somehow they get ****ed up when i save. And I know this if off topic but another example is that chill out remake they did. They have a big blue spot light that shines on your if you in its vision which just give out your spot. Like is that necessary? I am greatful that they made a map editor, but they need to step there **** up. Like how about a lock option for when you press X on an object, so you can't move that object or delete it by accident? I mean that's not hard to code into a program. I'm thinking ODST is going to have a really good forge in it and thats why the are jewing us with this sandbox.
no. I haven't run into many problems with sandbox so far, and it's the best map to forge on right now imo.
Currently, the only real bug I am aware of is the slanted wall glitch,. However, I just preformed the fix to it, and my walls are completely horizontal now. Sure it takes time, but that is what forge is all about, dedication. niZmo, this is why your floors are messed up. Read this to know how to fix it. As for not being able to place items, that is due to the OLN, which determines how many items can be on a map. Foundry has this too, but the you hit the Budget first. In Sandbox however, you'll hit the OLN before the Budget if don't use an OLN canvas. This is still a load more amount of items you can place on Sandbox over Foundry. As for Skybox, if you know how to use items wisely, there really isn't an issue there. I have seen plenty of large maps in the Skybox. If your items are being used to build up walls to prevent escape (which I have been seing plenty of in Skybox) then you should be forging there anyway. And the middle level has very small and insignificant amounts of sand to get in the way. But if it bothers you that much and you can't just build around it, then geomerge the old fashioned way, it works. And I am currently forging in the crypt, and it's walls have served no problem for me. Just Geomerge like you wound in Foundry, even tho the walls allow you to place items directly against then, spare some dips in the surface. There are ways around every issue, you just need the patience and open mind to find them.
One glitch I have noticed that really frustrates me is that sometimes, if you set an object from the default map to not spawn at start, it will still spawn, but you cannot select it to try to fix it. This is really frustrating when trying to interlock.
That happens to everyone on every map if you save and quit. As much as I want to take those five steps to build one wall, I just don't see me doing that in a map that uses all of the walls and wall doubles. The other problem is im trying to co-forge and the connection host seems to see things much more differently than foundry does, but this I'm not sure of. None of the things to fix the items-moving-when-the-game-starts glitch have fixed anything.
This may mroe or less just be an item bug, but on Sandbox, I stacked 18 of the item "Tin Cup" (The Golf one) They all merged into a giant mountain like Tin Cup, and it floated up into the air, rotated on it's side, and lagged my friend out of my game heh. Just though I'd put it in here :]
To maximize sandbox, use a STACKED map, you'll get A LOT more room to work with. Here are two fixes for stack map issues such as spawning glitches, etc. http://www.forgehub.com/forum/halo-forge-discussion/64521-tutorial-working-stack-maps-merging.html If you use a stack map and follow that, you shouldn't run into many problems as far as budgets go. Another quick and easy way to get around stack map issues is to spawn objects your going to merge as they don't glitch like that. The link is for those of you who merge just about everything, and the second is for those of you who only merge a few things. Hope this helps!
I do use a stacked map, but that is just one more problem I have with Sandbox, I have to have 3 stacked maps and the stacked items can be distracting when forging with 2+ people.
