Royale is a 1v1 room-based map I've been working. I might release it, might not. Originally I just wanted to forge a nice design with some cool aesthetics just for the hell of it, but it grew into something I'm proud of so I thought I'd share.

Map has been updated, new screenshots below. Old pics in the spoiler. Download link below.

I'm really trying to learn how good map design, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The trench-esque divisions through the rooms I find rather enticing. Any chance of a screen shot from above with the roofing deleted?

Last image- the 1x1 tall looks out of place. Other than that this looks really nice. Invite me to play sometime or put up a DL link so I can run through it in forge please!

Ah, it's nice to see you forge a 1v1 map. I always knew you were good with textures, so this is nice to see.

Really, the red light is pushing it, but I guess it's more of a personal preference, so no biggie. The bottom floor of the main atrium with the grass, looks kind of cramped, but that's just judging from the pics.

I'd definitely like to check this out sometime.

Yeah the angle of the screenshot kind of does that. I'll put up a download link as soon as I can get on the xbox.

Again, I think the angle of the picture makes it seems smaller than it is. You might be right though. And what is wrong with lights? I have a shitload of budget so I just went for it.

Thanks everyone else, dl link will be up soon and maybe a picture of the map without the roof.

    What's up, cluckinho?

The aesthetics on this map are quite nice - although I agree with Eightball about the red light. I'm not really a fan of the narrow "trench-esque divisions" (as Schnitzel put it) because I don't think they'd see much gameplay except to pick up that lovely sniper in the first picture.

I must also say that I dislike the use of hologram in a 1v1 map. I feel that hologram tends to cheapen the feel of the map... In a map with great aesthetics like yours, people tend to get into it.. but then suddenly, an outline of light appears around a player and a holographic projection is magically created...

One question - Are those bridges in the 3rd picture accessible/some kind of tac jump?

@the last picture - Is that 1x1 tall floating? I know someone said it looked strange..

    EDIT: :p Got ninja'd

@lights They make those walls look somewhat strange... One wall is white and the other one is dark red.. although that may just be the angle.

Well, overall, lights are unappealing. And if you have a lot of budget, maybe you could come up with some fancy aesthetics. Having a lot of budget leftover isn't necessarily a bad thing, but throwing a light into the map just for the hell of it, is quite pointless. I honestly think you could do without the light.

OP has been updated with new screenshots and a download link. Just got two games on it, and it went very well so it is definitely playable. Just don't view this map in forge because some of the objects aren't properly lit.

Use smackdown without radar if you would like to play this.

Just curious - is Smackdown without radar the new norm for 1v1 slayer maps? I've been trying to put together a good gametype for my own map, so just wondering if there's already one out there. :p

EDIT: Forgot to mention, DLing the new version :p If I can get a game on this tomorrow I'll come back and leave feedback.

Most people play MLG Slayer for 1v1's , or a variant of it where they can edit the Custom Power Up properties.

Smackdown is a variant of MLG Slayer, where you have enhanced radar, 1 grenade and the kill count is to 15.
