Not sure if this is supposed to go in Gaming Chat or General Discussion mainly because this is about XBL but either way. My router is a few years old, and my brother and I use the same router. My brother uses a long Eternet cord from his room to mine where the router is, and frequently he and I either : Can't connect to each other. Can't connect to friends. Get the Error message : You're NAT type is Moderate or Strict, searching may be slow. (In both Halo and CoD) So, I think we need a new router. (I have tried Forwarding my Ports, I've done it correctly. Doesn't work.) Does anyone have any suggestions on Xbox Live Enabled routers? I use Windows 7 and ever since we got Internet, the Modem/Router have always been in my room. Thanks in advance.
Enable UPNP. Open all the ports on both IPs, and check the IPs in Network Settings to make sure you're opening the right ports. That did it for my router.
A bit OT: Enabling uPnP doubled my internet speed. Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test Pingtest.net - The Global Broadband Quality Test Tell me your results, and I'll see what can be done. For I like to sound like I know what I'm talking about, even when I don't.
Beware that you can expose yourself to viruses if you open all your ports on your computer. I'm not sure there are Xbox 360 viruses around, so it's okay. Just to let you know. A quick google reveals a lot.
