The problem with America's guns is, not that everyone can have a gun, it's the culture of guns, it shapes America and has become a big part of the stereotype.
That's the thing- a lot of people think that the constitution should be ammended to fix that. With the escalating level of gun violence, like in my city of philadelphia, people are saying that the right to bear arms is obselete. It was instituted in the constitution for fear of another invasion, and it was an overall more dangerous time. Nowadays police are just a phone call away. Arming citizens was practical back then, but just proves to be troublesome nowadays. I feel that thousands of lives could be spared by taking firearms away from civilians that do not own a hunting license, personally. This hasn't been done because the NRA has strong political ties, and politicians are scared to go against them.
there are too many guns in america to do anything about them now but when the constitution was written you had muzzle loaded muskets not semi automatic concelable 9mm weapons and pump action 12 bore shotguns on sale in walmart EDIT i am not american when i went they were guns on sale in walmart if that has changed i just mean local shops in general
heres a good solution: Trigger-lock required on all guns in city limits that are within reach of a person unless the carrier is a police officer on duty or military in active service. This trigger lock is only allowed to be taken off when out of city limits, it is out of the reach of a person, or in a legit self-defense situation. Effects: Hunters (like me) aren't pissed off about soccer moms complaining A gun-control that actually works people can still carry guns for protection
