After hearing about ForgeHub, I knew I would feel right at home. Being a fan of designing maps myself, my buddy and I have started creating a series of maps that fit along with game variants that we designed. After spending about one hour deleting all of the weapons, grenades, and scenary on The Pit, I was quite happy to see that for future designs I will be able to use one of the canvas' offered (Thanks Unh4nd13d!). But besides the point the first feature map that we have finalized after testing several times is on The Pit and known as Resilience. When making Resilience, my buddy and I didn't want to just change all the weapons on the map and design it based on the gametype being Team Slayer or Slayer. Instead we decided to design the map based on CTF standards. Resilience is designed for 6-8 player teams (balanced) and is formulated for players to utilize the map completely. The room where the sword usually is placed we designed to be a "taking point" or "capture objective" to be taken. In other words, if a team controls this area of the map, the opposing team is forced to use the back hallway of the map where the rocket launcher is usually placed. The flag placement was a hard decision to make but after debating the possibilities of its location, my buddy and I decided on putting each teams flag in the second story rooms that contain the "snipers dream" sets of windows. As for players on offense, we've made two possible entrys into the opposing bases, and possible a third if players get creative. But before I say too much I'd rather have you play it then let you listen to me talk about it. I encourage you to try it out. As for our next map to be released to the public, well, the only details that my buddy has told me to release include the map type which is Team Slayer. I am also allowed to repeat this phrase that we thought would be a good tease for the community. "Ever thought about playing paintball inside your house?" In this sense we mean the map will be much like a house, and mainly indoor. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and feedback about Resilience. And don't forget to download both the map and the game variant. But more importantly, thanks for listening! P.S. Email me any time for questions, comments, or ideas and I'll be sure to get back to you. We're up for ideas! Give us a challenge! Re: Map Release: Resilience Yavi is correct, but that usually only pertains to the staff. All though posting it in that format would make it easier. -- Could you post some screenshots of the map before I dl?
Re: Map Release: Resilience Sorry I didn't know...Thanks for telling me though so I don't make a fool of myself in other posts! And as for screenshots I will be sure to post some when I get a chance.
Re: Map Release: Resilience And could you possibly reformat it in easy to read paragraphs instead of a big wall of text
Re: Map Release: Resilience Great description, idea, and map. Just make it easier to read (paragraphs, mate!) and give us some yummy screenies, and you've got yourself a great map (and thread!). Oh, and a link to the Bungie.net thread. Good job, bro.
Re: Map Release: Resilience Ok so I listened and applied all of your critisism. Like every other kid I have school today but I will be sure to post some pictures by tonight. Thanks.
Re: Map Release: Resilience Woah, someone who listens to others' advice. I smell success in the near future.
Re: Map Release: Resilience lol... anyway this sounds like a good idea and well thought out, but just one idea/question...are you trying to make capture points to be the major focus of gameplay (BF 1942 is an example) or is this just a good way to get the flag over? because if your using capture points, you could just do Territories with a long time to capture them
Re: Map Release: Resilience I understand what you are saying but I don't think I used good words to describe what I said before. If you are indeed asking about - (from original post) "The room where the sword usually is placed we designed to be a "taking point" or "capture objective" to be taken. In other words, if a team controls this area of the map, the opposing team is forced to use the back hallway of the map where the rocket launcher is usually placed." What I mean when I say this is that which ever team controls the sword room can use it to their advantage to force the opposing team to use the back hallway where the rocket launcher is located. For instance, instead of red team rushing, making an offensive run on the blue team, the red team goes to the sword room where they control it (not as a territory since this is a CTF game but more like a game strategy). By doing so this forces the blue team to choose another route to get to the red teams flag. Hope that answers your question. And as for screenshots, I have been overloaded since this is my last week of school so I will be able to get out screenshots by friday. But stay tuned, I will make another post including an entire overview of the map and game. Thanks again!
Re: Map Release: Resilience Hey everyone. This is the buddy that SsRC Forging Models, co-creator of Resilience. I would like to add a little to SsRC's map details. The opposite towers have conveniently placed deployable cover making for an excellent defense base. The covers can be deployed to slow down attacking infidel. Both bases also include mounted turrets in order for heavy defense. I don't want to go into too much detail, but I just thought I would give you a few more bits of information before we released screenshots. I will attempt to post some tonight. This map can be download on my file share (slots 3+4) or SsRC's fileshare (slots 4+6). Thanks for reading. Any questions feel free to contact either SsRC or me. Re: Map Release: Resilience It's here! I've uploaded a bunch of pictures of Resilience to Flickr. Here you are, enjoy. Resilience Pictures.
Re: Map Release: Resilience Thanks Wicked One for uploading those pictures for the community to see. Also I have new news as to our next map. After discussing what was to be an indoor map I have to decided to take that on as my own project so I would not give false hope or disappoint those who were excited for it. But aside from this, together Wicked One and I wanted to make a less serious but fun map that the entire community would enjoy. We are still undecided as to what this fun map might be but we're up for ideas from you guys. Who knows, maybe your idea will be selected by us and made into a map! I will be sure to update the community with details, possible release dates, and maybe some "teases" to keep you interested. Thanks for listening! P.S. - If you do want to give us and idea send either of us an email at... Wicked One 612 - jcady@yahoo.com SsRC Forging Models - claytonry@proctornet.com
Re: Map Release: Resilience You guys should publish this to the forums so you can give a direct link, most people don't want to search out people's names to download stuff. I'm going to try the map out with some friends later
Re: Map Release: Resilience Thank you Fbu, I was actually thinking that same thing. I just uploaded both the map and variant to the Bungie forums. If you could add the links to the first post, that would be great SsRC. Resilience Map Resilience CTF Enjoy.
Re: Map Release: Resilience Make sure to underline the links, this forum doesn't do it for some reason. ???
Re: Map Release: Resilience Great map, good design, clean, interesting concept, and a nice post. Good job, man. Do you have any other maps? If you're as good as this map indicates, you ought to try out to be a Guilder. You've got a fighting chance, for sure, given you've got another map this good. Best of luck to you!
Re: Map Release: Resilience Ok, finally I think this post has been perfected! Please all people who view this post refer to the original post and other posts above made by myself and Wicked One about updates and the status of our next map. Thanks!
Re: Map Release: Resilience Thanks for the feedback Lance, please feel free to try it out if you get a chance! Hmm Guilder huh?Well I wouldn't want to become a Guilder without Wicked One earning a position as one as well. For now I think I'll continue my role as a member but maybe in the future we'll take on a different position.
Re: Map Release: Resilience I would like a big group to play this on, it seems very promising. Invite me if you see me on On a side note, I don't know if this was intended or not, but I like how you can get in the base by the third way =D
