Well, as fun as it to fly a Banshee around on Construct, it just won't work. The top death barrier is too easy to fly into. I find myself dying even when I know it's there. I still want to mix things up on the weapons side of things. Any suggestion for another power weapon besides rockets? With the Flamethrower at the Sword spawn it might be a bit more of a power weapon, but I'm not sure yet.
G043r, yeah i agree. it needs to be as professional as possible.. we need good names, a new description for the map, and no mistakes/ weapons that are placed weird or something. as for krazy, yeah agreed.. have you tried with a hornet? i havent yet. anyways, i think the only weapons that work for that map are the flamethrower, rockets, and OS (the three that we have right now. Maybe a low ammo shotgun would work well to prevent too much camping but give a good short ranged weapon. also, the sniper i think works pretty well.
Hornet and the sentential beam fair off well. Toss in a Sword for good measure or a hammer. How epic would it be to beat a hornet out of the sky? .... i'll check now about the hornet. Next post will tell that tale.
I would be willing to do things like map descriptions, or at least help with them. As for Construct, the Shotgun may work. Remember though, there are two Maulers on the map. If we just moved them to an area with more traffic there may not be need for a Shotgun. The Sniper works alright, but I think it should be lower to encourage more movement. I'm not sure about what to put at the Sniper spawn. Right now I'm thinking of putting the Rockets to the bridge in front of Gold Lift. Maybe move the Flamethrower out to the Sniper spawn, then move the Bubble Shield back into the Sword spawn and place it with a pair of SMGs. Then that only leaves where to put the Sniper and where to move the Maulers to. And, no, I havent tried out the Hornet yet. I was having to much fun boosting through the middle of Construct with the Banshee. Also, something I notice, Bungie drop spawns almost all of the weapons on Construct. I'm pretty sure they probably do this on other maps as well.
question: can you open recent games that you have played in matchmaking so that we could get Bungie's official matchmaking version? and i think that if there is a hornet, there should be a hammer and rockets.
i think ive mostly finished it.. why do you have any good ideas for it? EDIT: been thinking about a construct remix.... my brother's friend was also giving some advice as well.. if we did have a hornet, there should be rockets, a power drain, Plasma Pistols, and a few stickies. and brute shots too.. those should all be enough to balance out the hornet, plus give a power weapon during main fighting. extras included i was thinking should be the OS and maybe snipe i love G043r's idea about the sentinel beam and the grav hammer.. il forget that all together and see what comes up
I'm doing a play test on Thursday at 6pm. Message me XBL, PM or in my play test thread to let me know if you will be there. http://www.forgehub.com/forum/teste...andoff-remakes-december-14th.html#post1105274
sweet i said on the other thread i will try to join up. anyways, fixed up Paladin (guardian) and Ground Hog (high ground) today.. there is now a Sniper @ 150 sec respawn with 1 extra clip on Paladin instead of the beam rifle and a machine gun turret replacing the plasma cannon
Are you guys still planning on holding testing after the holidays? Because I don't have Gold and I really want to help out with testing.
This is a first test of many test's that i imagine will last past the holidays... dont worry you'll get some testing in i'll make sure of it.
I thought so, but I wanted to make sure since I won't be able to get a renewed Gold membership until after Christmas, unless I get it as a gift, but I'm not so sure I will. Anyway, Desolation is coming along nicely. I am having trouble placing a second power weapon on the map. With the Rockets at the top, and the Camo towards the bottom, it's hard to find a good middle ground. I had thought about putting a Gravity Hammer on the map, but I didn't know where to put it.
gravity hammer seems like it would be much better for maps with a shorter line of fire heres a thought: spartan laser. really, with Isolation's plenty of trees and not really that much for a line of fire, the spartan laser would be a great weapon that is powerful but not overpowering. this plus the fact that it has only five shots makes it work well.. although there are quite a few open areas where people would get destroyed in, the splaser's charge time seems like it might give people an adequate chance of finding cover.
Ehh, I guess it could work. It just seems like the laser's range is too far for the map. Someone could potentially go on an uncontested killing spree without having to move to another spot. Plus, with rockets on there it would be a little too much in my opinion. I'm trying to think of another medium range power weapon I could put down somewhere, but I can't seem to think of anything.
I found 2 snipers or even the 1 doesn't really work on isolation. Something I had success with was a rocket in each base. Each had two shots. I never found a respawn time but I'd go with 3 min. camo up top on the silver thing overshield right above the ghost spawn or on the bridge. That setup worked well for me.
hmm i can see dimmest's working pretty well... but yeah Krazy, i do see what you mean. definetly a reason to have Invis... but i do see where you are coming from - a well organized team would wreak havok with that, although i can see that if you keep Rockets and splaser far away from each other for spawns, the opposite team could snatch invis and rockets to take out the splaser. this is assuming that invis was placed not at the shotty spawn, but closer to rockets... oh, and any other medium ranged power weapon - the closest you would get would be Needler or Brute Shot... but really i think after playtesting you might be able to figure out how the splaser could work
Actually the Rockets are at the Shotgun spawn, and the Invis is on the bottom level directly opposite of where the Ghost normally spawns.
So couldn't a player grab the rockets, drop down the hole, and grab invisibility. or is it in a different spot cause that is opposite the ghost spawn. Also, teles out of the base are something I had tried and they worked pretty well.
They could, but it probably wouldn't be there. In the time it takes to walk from the base, up to the rockets, fall down the hole, and walk across the bottom, it would've probably been grabbed by then.
