Hi, I’m SS SiLvErSnAkE and I live in Belgium. Recently I created a Map Variant that looks like the Halo 1 Map called Derelict but not exactly the same. It took me lot’s of free time to create it but I’m proud of my creation. Like I said, it looks like Derelict. Info: -The Rocket Launcher is located in the center. -The Gravite Hammer can you find at the bottom center. -There is a A-side and a B-side, they both have a Shotgun and Sniper Rifle. -You can get to the center by: 1. Using the stairs. 2. Use the Mancannon 3. Use the Teleportes that are connected with the center by a bridge. Gamevariants: -Oddbal -Team Slayer -Slayer -King Of The Hill Number of Players: I recommend 4-10 people. Welcome to forgehub! I see you got the pics working. I like this map but next timeinterlocking and geoglitching can make this map better. Check out the forging 101 section for more details. But overall its a very good map and thats why I'm downloading!
I love the remakes of maps, because you can really compare and remember the good old days... Although I believe if you are going to make a remake of a map, make sure to set down everything were it needs to be, and have everything set down nicely, so the players actually enjoy playing the map...
Right now i would say that your weapon set is a little too overloaded. I suggest that you take Bungie's original weapon set and replace the Halo 1 pistols with BRs because Bungie's weapon set is almost certainly already balanced. Also, as mentioned before, i recommend that you try to use more merging in your maps. Good Luck and Happy Forging!
Thanks for all the comments and the advice. But it wasn't mine intention to make it 100 % looking like Halo 1 Derelict. I wanted to put some of my own ideas in it. It's around a 75 % remake of derelict.
Ok heres my review: First off, i don't know anything about the map derelict because i never owned halo 1 (for shame!) But anyways here is what i think: Good -Very neat! -Large map -More than one way up (prevents camping) -Balanced, both sides have the same weapons Areas for improvement -More embedded pics would be nice -Interlocking would make this map smoother, for example where the stairs are going up to the wall, players would have to jump to get there -Have a quick read over Forging 101 (provided link) -Add just a tiny bit more cover Please bare in mind that i reviewed this as i would any normal map, i dont know what derelict was like so i can't comment on the replicate-edness? i dont remember much of derelict... but it is a nice remake. id give it a 3.75/5, only because i dont remeber the map, so i ont know how accruate it really is.
looks good so far but definately has room for improvement smooth things out, add some interlocking it has potential to be an awesome map.
As said before me, i think some merging in this map would make others appreciate it more and make it more pleasing to the eye. Other then that good job on the remake and i am looking forward to your next post.
About the interlocking. I don't really know what I should interlock. I went in forge and was looking to interlock stuff. I interlocked the two Double Open Boxes to make it one solid tunnel. Also fixed the problem with the stairs but for the rest I don't really know what to interlock I have also added some cover to the map.
dont see any interlocking i strongly advise you to check out forging 101 techniques but looks alright iv never seen halo 1 maps so i cant really feedback on it on also they didnt have grav hammers in hallo 1 i see you have on on your map =)
yeah your right, its not an exzact copy of derelect, but it defenetly has its likeness, interlocking would make it better though. but over all it is a good remake i think.
you could probaly make it run smoother with the floating walls and the open single box if you merged them, anyway it looks pretty good id remember that map tho
Nice remake! I give you a 4 out of 5, man. I dont remember much of derelict, but the parts I remember look good. I agree though, a bit more cover.
You know, that part where the stairs meet the wall is a little bump. You can fix bumps like that by setting the double wall on a sideways box not an upright one. Then delete the box.
