Hey guys. Got my first Forge Island map here. Its a rebuild from a 1v1 I built in Reach that wasn't ever released. I scaled it up a bit for 4v4 and I am super stoked about it. My only worries are the fact that I have used almost all the budget up. Though the lighting isn't anywhere near breaking, I am afraid that framerate may attack me. I haven't got a game on it but there isn't any FR lag with me running around alone but I know that's not a test. I just need weapons and spawns to get this thing playing, but here is my proposed weapon set: UPDATED LAYOUT AND WEAPON SET: I was so happy about my pallet dock, which I made 3 days ago, and then I saw another map preview where somebody used the same idea > I was first! maybe... I plan on getting some tests in next Friday night or late tonight if I can get the ordinance and spawns down in a minute. Anybody up for some late night (halo) partying?!

Nice looking map. Two concerns; There's a metric ton of power weapons Needs flanking routes through the middle of that big waterpit. The lift really isn't enough.. My first thought is a bridge between the Scattershot and that lovely pallet dock you have. Might have to mean removing that pallet dock, though.. Also, I would replace that Scattershot with the Shotgun as both perform similar functions, but the Scattershot has a literally random damage output.. frustrating as heck. Great use of water and what I think are the artifact bases in the picture with the pallet dock. Also trees IDK if you know this / have used this, but the 4x4 blocks' bottom has a cleaner texture. Looked like you might have used the top in the pic after the overview, so I thought I'd tell you. Not sure if you prefer the top texture either, but thought I'd tell you anyway.
It looks amazing! Great use of objects I already noticed, man it looks good. Ah well, I have some things to say though.. I agree with SpinCycle about the weapon set, there are a lot of power weapons. So you might want to tune that. And, I really like that pallet dock, but if it gets destroyed people can still easily grab the rocket launcher. Maybe that is not what you intented though, just a awesome dock! I don't think there is anything else though, the rest is just good as it is IMO. It certainly looks great!
Nice, wish my finished maps got this many comments Thanks for the posts, I do know the bottom of the blocks is smoother, my guess is you are referring to the one up high, which is visible from both sides so one side has to have the ugly one :/ My thoughts on your flanking route are mixed. I really didn't want to lose the dock, but once a pallet is destroyed it never respawns which idk if that's good or bad yet. The end of it where the rockets will be, is accessible from all angles but once youre there you can only go out to the lift side, unless you got jet pack. It was really a risk/reward thing. You gataa commit for those rockets. It's not set in stone though, I'd like to test it out first. I didn't think the weapons were that bad but that's not a big deal yet, I'll probably take out the detonators in that case. I did intend the rocket platform to be accessible after the pallets break. I didn't want them to never get used of the bridge is out, so you can still get it but you have to jump on the posts to get back without the jet pack. I may just rework it but I at least want to play it first.
I think you should have something underneath the pallets so the bridge will always be there. That way you can keep the aesthetics of the pallet bridge (until they break) and always have that hard route to the Rockets. Looks like a cool map ZV, will give it a download.
i'm not sure why your pallets won't respawn, as I said in my Desalination thread... My pallets are respawning two by two, so that there are never any not attached to something. I did have an issue with them not respawning if the ghost was too close to them. Vehicles and turrets do that. What MAY be happening for you is that some piece attached to your pallets is preventing a respawn. Also, my pallets are phased. Try phasing, re-orienting the pallets lengthwise instead of width... try pulling the trees away to see if that can fix (temporarily of course), and lastly, the tele-frame and other pieces... Also, Also, personally I think the Tree 1 (smallest) looks best as a dock beam, as the proportions seem more realistic. Maybe it has something to do with the tree you've chosen? IDK, yours still looks amazing, just trying to think of all the things which are different between yours and mine and hopefully fix it for ya
Yeah, I bet its because they are touching the trees, and each other. They are phased and merged very slightly so the gap isn't any larger than the individual planks on the pallets themselves. I also think the tree 3 I am using is uglier but with the other trees the leaves show and I didn't want it to seem like shallow water so I was forced to use this. As awesome as the idea is, I am slowly leaning towards changing it out to a regular bridge but I think I am still going to wait it out through testing.
to be clear, I am using phasing, and my tree 1's are phased slightly into them too. I'll go do some more testing to see if I can duplicate your problem. for mine it IS shallow water so the little leaves sticking out looks natrual. EDIT: I tested mine again, and the settings are phased, respawn at 35 (1st pair) and 45 (2nd pair) and the vehicles if too close definitely prevent respawn. I moved one a couple .1's and it fixed a slight respawn problem w/ mine. I haven't uploaded that fixed file to fileshare, but if you DL desalination you should be able to take a closer look at how it works... it would be a shame for you to abandon because it won't respawn -- but if you simply prefer a different bridge, then so be it good luck!
wow thats creative, beautifuly forged, realy nicely thought out and i love that pier bit with the pallets and the upside down trees, might have to use that in a map one day if you dont mind ive got alot of inspiration from this map to make a map like this in the future thanks

This is so cool. I'm such a sad loser who can't afford the monies to get the three map packs (or the storage space on my whopping 20g HDD) but after seeing this.. it's all just okay.
I'm aware. I was noting how I am without DLC and see that as less of a blow with content such as this being stitched up. I'm shockingly impressed with how this map is looking. The layout is superb.
Well I figured out my pallet problem. I still had them on respawn never, lol. So I fixed that and I also swapped out the tree 3's with the tree 2's and the leaves don't show so that looks even better and it works properly now. I've added some respawn areas so I'm so ready for testing this weekend. I can't wait to see how it play because I have a good feeling about it.
glad to hear you got that fixed. it seemed like it should work just like mine. tree 2's should look proportioned better too.
