“Greed conquers. Only the most ambitious will survive in this warzone. They say to keep your friends close, and your enemies closer but you will be hard pressed to find any breathing room here. Aim high, that’s where you’ll find your foes...” Ravenous was originally a map I had built in Halo 3 for me and my friends to play for fun. It was mainly used for short and sweet warm-up games. For this reason, the map is really tight; it forces you to watch all angles. In Halo 3 the map was actually smaller horizontally but much higher due to the nature of Halo 3 gameplay. The Reach version is much wider and has lost some height but the feeling is still present. The vertical range creates a different gameplay flow than usual; the closest comparison would be Construct from Halo 3. This map has been tailored to the Throwdown gametype. Many jumps become easier/possible with the added speed and the map moves in a circular motion. The low grenade count on the map nicely compliments the single starting grenade, the gameplay is much smoother with fewer grenades being tossed around. There is only one power weapon due to the size of the map and that is the Plasma Pistol. Weapon details can be found at the bottom. There are plenty of ways to gain height and you can only see a few from the pictures. It’s up to you to find the rest. Enjoy it for what it is, I can guarantee you will have to focus on where you’re going as much as where you’re shooting.
