In my map (Which isn't finished, and will not be advertised in this thread) I have a hidden hallways with a teleport which sends you to one of 4+ hallways (Made of open boxes), each one looking different with different weapon spawns all leading up to another teleport which sends you to one of 3 hallways leading to the normal part of the map.

    Is that an original idea?
I doubt it is, but I'd still like to know.

Unless you put some scenery that will enable the player to get a bearing on where they're going, it would end up being pretty confusing and ultimately cause people to loose interest. I understand where you're going with the idea and I can totally appreciate it (I thought of doing something similar with the wall in Lintendo's Great Wall, but didn't), a skilled map maker will want to make something that can be continually playable. If you've ever played the Chiron level on Halo CE, you might get where I'm coming from. I hated that level, mainly because it was nothing but teleporters and it was really difficult to get a bead on where the hell I was going because of the lack of scenery. I know this is getting away from what you're asking about originality, but to answer your question; no, not particularly original. But that's not to say it's a bad idea. Just use some scenery to help orient the player and I think it'll be ok. I'll be interested to see how you make this turn out.

An idea doesn't have to be original to be good, just try to execute it better than the other ones before you.
But the general idea sounds a bit like the "Class selection" part from Aspers map The Last Level

Ohh no, you got me all wrong. First of all to even get to the random event area you have to get to the hidden area, which requires you to jump over a dumpster and crouch though what would normally seem like a normal wall if you didn't know you could crouch behind it.

My map isn't just a bunch of random teleports, it doesn't play a huge role in the map, it's only a neat way to get around in the map and get a nice surprise attack while your at it. (The end part that sends you to the normal part of them map are up in the ceilings, great for ambushing people who walk into the tower where the hallways end up)

And about Chiron, I hated that map soo much! The only reason I did this was so that people wouldn't be able to follow you after you go though the teleport, one of the things I hate about teleporters in general is the confusion you run into when coming out of one and instantly being attacked. I wanted to make it so that most of the time you'd get away safely.

So it was in the class selection? Hmm, well, I guess I didn't come up with it first though, but at least mine will be one of the first to use it in a normal way.

Thanks for the heads up guys.
