I've been wanting to try my hand at making a race map. They're fun to play and I think it would be fun to make, and a good challenge for me. I've also been in the mood lately to forge a remake. Then I thought, why not do both? I want to remake some tracks from F-Zero X for the N64. I'm honestly really surprised that I've never seen anyone try it before. Some of the tracks are obviously impossible, but for the most part, they aren't very complicated. All some would require is an edit to a couple of turns like the ones that go upside-down. First on my list would probably be "Big Blue 2" or "Red Canyon 2." What I want to know before I start designing is if anyone else would be interested in seeing this. I think it would be awesome.
You might actually be able to make inverted parts of the track by mancannon and gavlift combinations. This would probably take too much work and budget but the epicness would be worth it even in just a concept map.
mancannons and gravlifts are way too unpredictable to do something like that, especially on the scale that would be required. I tried making a loop with mancannons a while back when I first had this idea. I was going to make "Mute City." if you're not lined up just right, you'd end up falling off the track.
You could always add railings in to control the mongoose direction as it enters. Even if you cannot make a full loop, large jumps where the mongoose flips are still cool.
Um, this just sounds like a racetrack with some bells & whistles thrown in. I like F-Zero as well. Why not just make a regular track and take it from there?? Tracks take a lot patience and perseverance. Get started before you loose your motivation. Talking about it here is not going to place any pieces down for you. I have tried to make a loop before. It's possible, but not practical. Go for game play. Set the track up for BT or something. The mancannons merged a track is hardly a new idea. Start forging and stop talking about it.
