Most of the Sandbox maps have these nice turns that are all interlocked. I want to start to get into racetracks, but here is my question. What is the best way to do these? I don't want to make tracks that are bumpy and look terrible. Any Help? I am not a newbie forger, I just have no experience with tracks.
I'm no expert myself but I'm guessing if you interlock the race track parts then you can achieve a smooth track.
Practice. I have been forging since Halo 3 came out. There are no sectrets. DL a bunch of popular racing maps from the racing forum. Take a good look at them in forge. Try to pick apart what some of the good forges do. I use two controllers a lot of the time that I am interlocking two difficult pieces. Learn how to interlock. It is important in making a racetrack feel smooth.
I think the best way to do it is this. note: I have never tried this out before, because I don't have THAT much patience. As you can see, the good forgers float objects in midair using the Save/Quit method, which you probably know. When you place that, you are going to want to cover it with respawn points and make sure to put the points of respawn points right at the edge of each object you want to merge. Every time you go into forge, you must start a new round and interlock a new object using save/quit....at least that's the best I can come up with. That's why people say their racetracks sometimes take 15-30 hours.
I have just finished my latest, and best racetrack. It features several banked turns. The way I do my banked turns is using the Save/Quit method. Place the object to start "no", set it to respawn in 180 seconds (Gives you plenty of time to get it right). Place a respawn point on each of the corners, then start a new round. Next round go over to where the respawn points are, and balance the object in teh air, when you feel it looks right, save, then quit. Reload it up then you can see if its right. If its not just retry. Hope this helps
