Purple Cubed! >> All round BTB map<<Map: Sandbox Symmetry: symmetrical Gametypes: Purple Cubed supports all gametypes but I reccommend BTB slayer, BTB assault and BTB CTF Description: Purple Cubed is a BTB map based around a floating cube. Unlike all my other maps I have prioritized gameplay over aesthetics and I would like to thank Dthen for encouraging me to map this way. The map has two main bases and a central structure holding a sparten laser. Each base has a warthog and as well as a laser the map includes two brute shots and several plasma nades for anti-vehicle. Cool aesthetically and looks like it is well forged. Can the radio towers be knocked over? I'm a little sick of ground floor BTB maps because they all seem very similar, but good work none the less.
nice i see alot of oppertunities to splatter someone with a goose. it looks good and probbaly has good gameplay to. i will dl and review it later review: it was awesome to play on and the vehicles wre fun to drive around. and i didn't get camped with the warthog
Now that's soom pretty epic cube floating Lets see, the aesthetics imo are still great, along with the gameplay. You seemed to accomplish both of these aspects without trying on the aesthetics I kind of don't like the radio towers thingies, because everything else is stone and then theres those.. haha The LOS are great for BTB because there is definitly enough cover but enough openness-ness to get some kills with the BR. OVerall, great win 4.8/5
I like the design and original layout, its ver ypromising and i will dl this and check out the gameplay with some mates and I will get back to you. P.S I like the cube!
I see you posted the map formerly known as Levitation. Anyway, the final map luks very nice! I truly enjoyed testing it and I'd like to say that this is currently my favorite ground-level Sandbox variant. The weapon placement fits well with the map geometry and the new spawning works nice. I also thought that this was an awesome hogin' map. Also, I believe that this could have a shot in Atlas and I suggest you submit it for MM there, if you already haven't. In my opinion, this would surely defeat the other BTB Sandbox variants currently in MM. Good luck if you try to submit it into Atlas. Overall, this was a great map with lotz of win. 9/10.
They're pretty much wedged down with the coloured lights so without a lot of force they won't come off. Ooh and Bahh I'll go look on Atlas now.
I see the purple cubes inspired the map and the name. May I sugest to make the cube purple you merge a red and blue light inside each other above or in the center cube, that way your map name will make sense to those who do not know who the purple cubes are.
Looks really cool. If I may make a suggestion, maybe add some lights to the two pieces that look like they are holding the cube in the hovering state. It would sell the concept of the map more in my opinion.
I have tried merging lights to make the cube purple but it appears more of a white colour with a hint of purple.

Not sure about the spawns some are very close together so if a player spawns they are just looking at a wall in front of them. You want to have spawns were a player will spawn on one of them and know where he/she is on the map without having to look around. Also try spacing some of the spawns out on base overview 2. The map looks fine enough but spawns make or break a map.

Yes well this is my first serious competitive map, before now I had no idea that spawns were even slightly important so they probably wont be amazing.
I think the spawns SHOULD hold up. I have to admit that this map plays excellently, but it should probably have a power drain in the bases to help balance the hogs out a bit more, there's not much to take them down with, just a laser, really.
I agree, when Dthen drives me to an invincible on one of my first plays on the map and he doesn't even have any route that he likes to use on the map (he was driving around, semi-randomly) I think that the hogs are definitely overpowering, so I also suggest a power drain in each base.
I promise I will put a power drain on tonight. I think another problem is being able to drive out to the boundary ontop of sand dunes etc which is always a problem on sandbox maps.
i love the cube as the middle piece, but you should make it look purple, and i also expected the bases to be square hence the name (cubed) otherwise the map is very well constructed you've got my download.
I don't think that the dunes are too much of a problem because if you're talking about when a hog is on the dunes, the angles are quite hard for the gunner to work with, but they are at a fairly safe distance from alot of things... it sorta balances it out.
