Prolongation is an asymmetrical map set on a human cargo transport station. A monorail system sits on a belt that extends past shields to prevent decompression. It is somewhat of a close quarters map, built for small team and/or free-for-all play. Prolongation is a semi open medium-sized map, connected by a mainstream of ramps, gravity lifts, corridors and bridge ways. All routes and areas offer a presentable amount of cover. The maps interior is divided by three floors, the second is accessible by gravity lifts located just offset the monorail system, alternatively a player can use the ramps located just opposite the main gravity lift; A Mantis is also located in this portion of the map. Portions of the second level were removed, so that a player can simply choose to drop down to the lowest level not just to avoid fire but to also pick up the rocket launcher spawned in the centre between two opposing turrets. From there a player can take the main gravity lift to the top of the map; this level of the map can often see fighting, but is mainly used to connect the routes to the exterior of the map, or alternatively the Teleporter which is located past a semi-long stream of windows shut out by two shield doors underneath the monorail, connected by a narrow bridge way overlooking an empty region of space. After you take the Teleporter, you are exited in a turned over corridor with a hole in the floor opposite two platforms which drop you onto a bridge that extends to a platform with two singular power cores with two corridors opposite each distinguished by a station console which lead to a structure which links the exterior of the map; there are two sniper rifles, each fixed against the wall opposite the shield door, left/right of the doorway. Alternatively a player can simply walk through the door opposite the Teleporter on exiting. The player will exit the structure onto a walkway, which will lead the player to a tower that the player must traverse to reach the exteriors upper lever which is linked by a platform sitting on a belt that circles the forward half of the area, players can traverse this but is not recommended; this area is purely cosmetic and was never intended for combat use. The centre platform which is made up of interlinking pyramid blocks and circular inclines underneath representing some sought of pulley system which controls the locking mechanism that bypasses the shields and sits on top of the monorail. There was always the concern when I started building, I positioned the map too close to the death barrier, but gratefully my concerns were proven premature. My favorite aspect of the map is the exterior, which is surrounded by a vast and otherwise empty region of space. I would have liked to include zero to low gravity to this portion of the map but was unable to due to lack of funds. Despite this the map allows players to close vertical distances quickly and easily; Prolongation has a rock solid layout bookended by a cosmic atmosphere.
