http://www.bungie.net/stats/Halo3/FileShare.aspx?gamertag=ssshakedown I've always liked the idea of building forts on Foundry, and though that's the basis for this map, I couldn't live with just two small forts that can't even comfortably hold a team of 8, so I plumbed farther into Foundry's depths. The rest of the course was put to good use, as I threw in a Warthog, some shield doors, a pair of man cannons (directly into each base), a flamethrower, and a floating sniper tower. Possibly my favorite part about this map is that the weapons are fairly well balanced. If you fail to get the sniper rifle, the teleporter to the sniper tower is hard to guard (there are two), and leads to easy assassinations with the energy sword, as the small box leaves the sniper no room to maneuver. The flamethrower counters the energy sword, and is ideal for base assaults during objective games. The Warthog will undoubtedly dominate the map in the hands of a competent driver and gunner (sticky grenades were left off this map to give it some advantage in the tight quarters of Foundry), but the presence of brute shots, turrets, and shield doors makes sure it's not an impossible kill. Parts of both bases use the "fence" piece, and so battle rifle wielders can take potshots at each other from the bases. Plays best in TS, CTF (all types) and Assault (all types), but for the latter two, it's best to up the captures/detonations needed to win, and switch flag return to touch-only, and bomb arming/detonation times should probably be lowered a bit. Re: Project Faceoff: lame name, awesome map the screenshots seem to make it look messy, but by ur description this seems to be a great map, and i think its more like the description...im gonna download this and see!
Re: Project Faceoff: lame name, awesome map Hmm, I never really thought of it as messy. I guess the shield doors being out in the open seem messy or pointless, but you'll be thankful for them once the other guys get the 'Hog.
Re: Project Faceoff: lame name, awesome map i ususally just use boxes..if you place them in strategic locations, they can take double duty as cover and as making it harder to drive, plus it looks better. again, i havent played yet, but have you considered making a couple stickies spawn somewhere between the 2 bases, so if one team has the warthog, the other team can make a rush at the stikies? this would also force the warthog'd team to defend them
Re: Project Faceoff: lame name, awesome map I might put a pair next to the sniper or the sword. But I don't honestly expect a lot of people to get that strategy, and I can see them just wasting the precious treasures on humans. And the reason I chose shield doors is so the pedestrians can quickly dart through the shield, fire some shots or lob a grenade, and get back through, whereas with boxes, they'd get chased around the box and cut down, instead of just popping back through to the other side.
