Is professional video gaming a sport? What do you think? Tell me your opinions, I got good arguments B)
i would actually have to say yes. Physical activity is very broad. I know this is going to sound nerdy but moving your thumbs by definition is physical activity. The definition only says physical activity. That doesn't show any extent as to how much. It could be little physical activity like moving your thumbs and fingers around a controller, a vigorous amounts like in football or soccer. And professional gaming of course has its own sets of rules and customs and can be very competitive. Conclusion: YES, it is a sport
I know we would all like it to be, but it really isn't. Sure, your moving your thumbs, but it is really just a hobby/past time. Basketball= sport Tennis= sport Videogames= hobby
where do you draw the line of physical activity? Is moving your fingers classified as physical? Technically it is.
Is a staring contest a sport, then? I mean, you are keeping your eyes open and don't forget breathing!
Even if we didnt move while playing video games, the chemical movments that take place when you register your surroundings, hear things, stratagize, think what to do next, is technicaly moving.
With things are today, anything can be a sport. Heck, cooking is probably a sport. Actually, a sport is a competition for money so you can provide for your living. That's what a sport is.
It's not a sport, but you can make a competition out of it and call it whatever the hell you want. Kinda like Special Olympics.
Videogames are not sports by definition. When they came up with the definition they were not planning on people knit-picking it down to moving your fingers. However, Videogames are very much a competition, something where people can compete against each other to have a better performance than their opponents. Technically not a sport, but just as much of a competition as a sport.
What happened to sport? Sport used to be full contact physical games and contests. Now people are arguing that MLG is a sport. It's pathetic.
Next thing we know competitive eating will be a sport, then fastest texter will be in the olympics, till thinking will be a sport.
