But it is the mediocre maps that get attention... [br][/br]Edited by merge: THIS is the most intelligent and succinct statement on this topic yet. [br][/br]Edited by merge: The right people are those that are right for you. For me, I want only two things - to improve my maps and to get them in front of the CC. No one here at FH offers me either.
When you say Mediocre I say MLG... I really don't like MLG maps, the majority of competitive Halo maps here on FH. To moral of the truth about advertise is that many are young teens just trying to find a past time or make a name for themselves on the Web. They don't know much about advertising so they attempt and get zero feed back. I only have had one bad review in the last 2 years or so on FH and I posted it because I was offended by a kid's idea on map designs but I really don't want to talk about it. The truth is none of the new members know the right people to show, they do not know what to say or advertise, many of the posted suggestions don't even work. I just want to find the right people to look at my maps but there are techincally a 1% chance I will come to that point of 100. Does anybody know where to look for postive feedback on FH because the Testers and Reviewer Guilds are extremely limited at who they can take in and post on. Many people don't know what the community wants.
MLG are the far minority of competitive maps posted on this forum. And plenty of them are good. There was a time (earlier in Reach's life cycle) when MLG maps tended to be aesthetically bare and creatively uninteresting - lots of simple arena designs and thinly disguised ripoffs of a certain H3 custom map that shall remain nameless. But that's increasingly not the case and plenty of recent MLG maps are just good custom maps with drop spawns.
Just kidding really. I just don't like the closed off way and the creativity is usually nada but their extremely good in custom games its just that I don't like them for lack of creativity but I haven't event put any effort into looking at MLGs in the last few years so I don't know how they have evolved. Don't judge me. MLG has though influenced many halo map styles many of them haven't made to MM and only about 1000-2000 people usually play MLG on MM.
