I saw the thread on file share and wanted to comment, but discovered that the thread was closed. There was no apparent reason to close it, as the issue was really not fully discussed. I had a map, Mutiny, my first forge creation on Reach. I posted it here on FH and other places. I then created Flight Deck, the longer, better, bigger, air craft carrier with a much better air traffic control tower on it. So I deleted Mutiny from my file share. Strangely enough, the link was still valid. I did some playing around and discovered that if I delete a map from my file share the link becomes invalid - unless someone else posts it to their fileshare.
hmmmm that is an interesting thing bungie has worked out, but really postign a solution to a problem was no need to create a new thread in Customer service, you should have posted this in Reach discussion, as it is more of a general fact you found about reach. A simple answer to the problem doesn't warrant another thread. This is my opinion at least, I'll talk to a mod and get back to see if I'm right or wrong and have done what should be done. Great find though, really helps a lot of people out!
I believe this has been a known thing for awhile now actually. As long as someone is hosting the file then the link will still be valid. I'm not sure what the point of this thread is, though? If you want to discuss this then it should be moved to another forum as sharp has suggested. EDIT: it's already been moved lol.
The point was that someone else on another thread was asking about how to prevent a link from breaking, that thread was closed/locked, and so I could not reply to it. If it is well known, then this is redundant. but apparently, they did not know, and I could not see any answer in front of them on the forum. So I added it myself.
If you tag a File on B.net it'll stay linked to B.net until Bungie does their sweep. Or so I've heard.
