Don't tell me you installed Firefox, did you? DONT YOU ****ING REALIZE THAT THE FBI IS WATCHING YOU?!?!?!? RUN! RUN, AND DONT LOOK BACK!
*looks back* No, here's a desktop for your viewing pleasure. The dock obscures view, so I sent it away. By the way, if I get a Windows laptop, I'm gonna install Ubuntu on it, definitely.
The updated version of my Vista laptop's desktop. I've tried to combine the best of Vista (is better than XP by far) and Mac OS X. Can't post my XP-running desktop's desktop because this is being posted on my laptop.
Ubuntu is as easy as poop. It takes under 30 minutes, and guides you through the whole process. Download a live CD first and try it. Remember that you can change something in linux if you dont like it. If you think you can make the switch, I would recommend a clean install (partitioning is no fun at all.) If you have any problems (hardware not being supported is the most common, although support is usally pretty good.) just go to the ubuntu fourms, people are too happy to help. The biggest difference would just be the interface, which is easyer on windows users, but if you need help google is just a few clicks away. Other then that the applications you use will change, but open source is really cool. Also make sure that you have a plan if their are apps you use that are not avalible on linux, like Photoshop. Their are ways of running windows apps on Linux. My desk right now has gone back to simple, not very themed but still pleasent. I switched over to thunar file manager (instead of Nautilus) and I'm addicted to the speed of it. My terminal has gone transparent. Conky isn't running because I'm figuring out a new config.
I used to use Conky and SysMetrix. I used to use all of those. They're unnecssary and I don't know why everyone makes a big deal of them. Now I don't have it installed, because it's not necessary. All I need is RamIdle pro, serious. Anyway, I don't upgrade my OS's anymore, mostly because I don't find the need for any of the new features in Vista. XP and even Windows 97/ME is fine. The only reason i'm really on XP anymore, is because it's easy, i'm used to it and theres a ton of ways to customize it.
Anyone know of another program like windows vista sidbar, i love my sidebar, but its such a resource hog, I want something, thats the same, just less resource whoring.
There's a google sidebar. I really like that one much better than the Vista. Google sidebar is more universal, so you get more than what the Vista sidebar gives.
Lol, be nice. Remember that most people in this are very tech oriented, and he may not be. And hey, I cant use gimp. That thing is impossible.
