So, here me out before you all tell me this is dumb. And before you say it, I am not a child, I am just a young adult who grew up on Halo, Pokemon, and Nintendo 64. I have had this idea for a while but have never been able to accomplish it myself, do to the fact that I am only a mediocre Forger... Anyways, onward! The ideal game-type would be Infection. And if possible, a CTF-Infection. Or maybe just a story driven Infection. Humans start in Pallet Town and work their way to the Elite Four, holding out in the towns for a short period of time, reloading, regrouping, etc., etc. Getting to the Elite Four and surviving for "x" amount of time they progress to one more area for the remaining "x" amount of time to win the game. I guess I have more solid ideas on a game-type then I do an actual map. But wait, there's more! I do have a little bit of an idea of what the map should be like. Pallet Town is the starting location. Zombies cannot go there and the survivors can only be in there for 10 seconds, i.e. using the soft kill boundary. The proceed through Route 1 to get to Viridian City, which is small town to collect more ammo. Route 1 would obviously be the first encounter with zombies. I don't want to keep going but I wanted to lay down the start of my map idea. I would say put soft kill boundaries in each building, to prevent camping, and have a gym in most or all towns, and within each gym have a special weapon or power up. But don't make the gyms easy-breezy, make them the main spawn point for the zombies somehow, with obstacles as well. So getting the weapons would have to be a team effort. No player could just run in in search of a power weapon and run out with a rocket launcher that took them little to no effort. I would also like to suggest caves and some water areas. I would really like to see someone adapt this and make it into a real, playable map. I also understand that Infection does not exist in Halo 5 yet, but we all know it is coming... eventually.... And if no one is willing to take this on, please give me advice on how to make it myself. I would really appreciate it. Thank you for taking to time to read this and if you respond, thank you for that as well.
It's a decent idea, but I doubt you could have many accessible buildings, otherwise the budget would be blown way out. I had actually previously considered remaking some of the towns for a fun map, but the idea of creating Kanto is somewhat daunting. If I were you, I'd definitely stick with the bare minimum of open buildings to start with, and then work from there.
I wasn't really suggesting full fledged buildings. I meant for like hollow blocks. It looks bland, but like you stated, for budget purposes. The gyms on the other hand, I'm not sure what to do in regards to the budget. Especially considering, if you were to do the entire Kanto region, you would need 8 of them. Not to mention the Elite Four. Maybe this could come as a two part map? --- Double Post Merged, Mar 17, 2016 --- By the way, is it cheating for me to answer my own poll?
Make a map series! Make ALL the Pokemon towns. Also, I don't think that liking Pokemon is childish. Those games are awesome.
I appreciate that. I don't know that I, or anyone for that matter, would be willing to make 8-10 maps for a series. As cool as it might be. Unless they made a map for every two or maybe three towns. But then you have to think about Viridian Forest, Diglett Cave, and Rock Cave. As well as many other larger parts of the map. It would be interesting though, to have the Cycling Road and all humans are equipped with Mongooses. Just spitting out ideas now. Hoping someone adapts this.. I like the ideas you are giving me, but I know that if I did this, I would spend to much time trying to make it accurate to the game. Meaning I would make all the buildings look like they were from the game, and the layout of each town would be as close as possible. While it sounds great, first off, I suck as aesthetics, and second off, that would extend the length of forging the maps to 2x longer. I tried to make a small map in H2A, but it turned out crap. It only featured three towns, and not even in order. as well as a very small cave with only one entrance, and a very thin "forest". It's almost embarrassing, really.
