    After a total of 25 Hours of handcrafting and testing, Platformball V1 is finally completed.

    Best of all, Halo 3 players without the new map packs finally has a map to enjoy. No longer will you be shafted! I wanted my very first creation to be unique, and on a map that rarely gets forged. After checking around I realized that not too many people forges Construct (Also because everyone forges foundry). So I figured that it was an oppertunity to test the waters and hope to create something that isn't done too often. Especially on this map.

    I kept three things in mind when creating this map. It has to be competitive, fast paced, and revolves HEAVILY around teamwork. I truly believe I accomplished those task. After a few test games, (Scrapped ALOT of things that didn't work) everything runs the way I envisioned it. Only the basement floor of the map is used.

    Description

    Round starts...

    You and your brothers in arms are charging down the narrow hallway, Battle Rifle in hand. Better pick up that Deployable cover. Once you make it to the corner, its gametime. You and the enemy are exchanging fire, spike grenades soaring through the air. That deployable cover is mighty useful now.

    Good. The enemy is eliminated for now. Better get to that bomb on the helipad.

    Hey a bubbleshield...

    Your team is on the helipad. Grabs the Sniper Rifle and Brute Shotgun. Those will come in handy. You grab the bomb. Okay, here's the plan. The Sniper stays on the helipad while the rest of your teammates escort you to the golden lift through the middle. Here they come! Fire erupts. Two of your teammates go down. Crap! One's behind me! You won't make it to the lift in time! *BANG!* Sniper bullet through the back of the head of the S.O.B. Whew! The sniper is a life saver. Teammates fall back to the helipad.

    Up the lift. Through the portal...

    Platforms. A staircase of them. Have to concentrate. One slip and your done for!

    Jump, after jump, after jump...

    Your teammates on the helipad are again engaging a relentless enemy. Damn! Taking fire! From where? One of the bastards followed you through the portal! You scream for the Sniper. He puts a bullet through his head. The Snipers attention is no longer on the enemy down the middle. Him and the rest of the team go down. The enemy has you in their sights down below. Your taking fire! Your gonna die!

    ......

    Wait! You still have that bubble shield from earlier! You throw it down. The enemy is pissed. They can't get you in your cucoon of sanctuary. Quick thinking. You scream for your team to hurry up. The shield won't last forever. The enemy takes fire. Their too focused on you to watch your teammates advancing up the middle! The enemy gets wiped out... right before the bubble shield depleted.

    Close one.

    Your team says to get moving! You hop on your way. Almost to the goal. Whoa! Almost slipped. The enemy is tearing through your teams defense! One breaks through! He lobbs a Spike grenade! Watch out! It sails by...

    You make the final jump. Bomb armed...

    Detonated.

    Good job team. Good job.

    Screen fades black. Another round begins...



    Neutral Bomb. 4 Rounds. One minute sudden death.

    I am confident in saying this is the most original assault map avaliable.

    General Tips:

    1) It's not recommended for the WHOLE team to go through the big lift. Who's watching everyone at the bottom?

    2) It's important to hold down the bottom pad in order for the bomber to make his way to the objective. If not, bye bye bomber.

    3) Watch out for flying debris! It very well may knock you right off the platform! Not to mention it hurts!

    4) Stay away from the forbidden zones! You don't belong there!

    5) If the platforms fall, don't sweat! They will return in a short while. Hope you can live that long!

    6) Equipment can play a big role in bringing your team to victory. Use them wisely...

    7) This map is made for great wall sticks with the Spike Grenade. Take advantage!


    Feedback is greatly appreciated. After playing a few games, let me know what you thought. If this gains popularity, I'll take some feedback for V2 later in the future. I would appreciate it if you can leave comments in the other thread as well.

    It looks like that at first glance, but there are certain areas that are blocked off pretty well IMO. Keep in mind that Construct has one of the LEAST amount of resources to deal with. Which is mostly the main reason why I believe it isn't forged.

    This map was re-arranged so many times I lost count. Majority went into playtesting/trying to get outside the boundaries of the map, and tons of tweaking. Such as the spawn points since they are in a close quarter area. I was commited into getting that portion right. I tried everything I could think of to see if I could break the map. Only the bottom floor of the map is used.

    I also had to make sure the platforms were the right distances and not too difficult (But not too easy).

    The final layout of the map is completely different from the first layout I drew out because of certain things that didn't work.

    I could have worked with Foundry like everyone else (Which is much easier to work with) but I wanted to try something that no one works on and that was the end result.

    The concept looks good, but did you execute? You seem to think so, so I'll check it out. Thank you for not forging on Foundry!

    As a side note, custom message icons and long titles for your topic are to be avoided in the forge maps section. I edited your message accordingly.

    This looks interesting... queued.

    Construct is one of my favourite maps (my first released map was also on Construct), and you're right it is really hard to work within the very restricted budget!

    Look forward to checking this one out :)

    You made a map on construct too? I'll have to check yours out as well. It makes me interested in seeing people doing something with construct. It's very rare.

    Awsome map. Love the originality. Be careful though, some forgers suck at jumping, so they might not want to fly down those ledges like more experienced jumpers do; To make it more interesting and easy i would suggest a telejump staircase.

    I just tested this out a little bit. Great job with the staircase! I think that even bad jumpers will have no problem getting down the staircase. Also, good job on blocking off the inaccessible areas. Looks well defined. You do need to add something to the middle of the map, too. The weapon placement isn't very compelling and I think there should be some sort of cover (at the very least) separating the two bases. I wouldn't place any power weapons, however, because it'd be wicked easy to spawn camp the other team. Overall: nice map.

    This was the feedback I was waiting for!

    The weapon placement I spent alot of time thinking about. I chose those areas for the power weapons (In this case The Sniper Rifle and Brute Shotgun) to be on the helipad because I wanted to inform the players that "Hey, your suppose to defend this area with your life so the bomber can score!". It gives them some kind of direction.

    The middle area has a bubble shield. I figured that was a great place to put it since it can definately turn the tide for a team. A bomber can still deploy equipment. So if his team couldn't hold their ground on the helipad and he was being attacked while on the platforms, he can deploy a bubble shield and chill until his team can take the pad back (That's a Pro Tip!).

    I didn't want to separate the bases down the middle because the way I envisioned it (Not to mention the lack of good objects to divide the middle with anyway). When your team is charging down the tight hallway, as soon as you hit that corner you already know its on. Crossfire will come from the starting areas and between the lift and helipad, so placing objects in the middle will slow the action down. Fast paced action that I was aiming for. Deployable cover was placed at both bases for just that pupose. Cover when you want it... or hold on to it for later. :p

    Finally we agree that the big power weapons don't belong on the map. That's the reason I didn't include the Shotgun. Due to fear of spawn camping. With that said I made a couple of tweaks, so spawn camping shouldn't be an issue.

    Very original with the back of the map. Otherwise it doesn't have to much extra items placed in it. Could be interesting.

    I like how you made the description longer, but now it's too long, "no I'm kidding" great job, I also like the stair case... Construct is one of my favorite maps, but it's a pain forging on it, so good job...
