    At first I wanted to create a symmetrical map that was pretty simple in layout. I also wanted to use pieces that work well together. I started working on the side of Alaska and had the pit started. I was aiming for a Burned feeling like in Erupt’s map Burn. The map was going to have a tree and a little pavilion in it but, I decided to move the map into the space outside of Alaska. After working for little bit I had the center map and tried using red and FX NextGen to make a volcanic looking map and thought that it looked crappy so I changed my concept.

    After seeing the result of that I decided to try and enclose it. After having gotten the middle enclosed I walked around the map and thought to myself it’s too plain without an open sky. So I removed the roof and decided I had finished the main structure of the middle. The next thing I had to focus on was well red and blue base so I saved the map and started working with the platform XXL. I choose to use this piece because I liked the floor pattern it made and after playing on Deprived (by Dinosaur Drugs) I came up with the idea of using the platforms for the walls of the map.

    I had both red and blue base mapped out, except for a few additions I added later, and then had to decide how I should connect both sides. I was going to leave it as a one path map but I felt like it was too small and that it wouldn’t have been fun. I was going to make a super complex route that went over the top of the middle and then asked myself “Is complex better or worse?” As I thought of this I came to the conclusion that simple is sometimes better then something that is super elaborate. A triangle would be a perfect shape to finish the map.

    I used brace larges for the walkways because it provided more bang for my buck. They also went nicely with the platforms. I made sure that each walkway was almost perfect (maybe even exactly). After this came to be I had to think of a good aesthetic piece to put over the power weapon I would put there. A dish seemed to be good because it flowed with the other pieces and provided a different look for players. I then put 1x4 pieces for support. I was going to have the walkways be open but then I knew I’d get bitched at for not having enough cover. So I took the aesthetic approach and added cover while giving the walkway a unique look (IMO). This was the last main building I did for the map. Next were weapons, spawns, little aesthetic features, and other things. Overall I have had a lot of fun making this map and improving it. I think it plays the best out of any of my maps I have submitted.


    Testers

    I wanted to get this map tested as soon as I could so I went over to the good ol’ TG. FEEDBACK that is what they had to say (big thanks btw, all the suggestions really improved the map).

    One thing I have really focused on was kill zones (thanks to the testers). The map has many because of the open skies and the open tops on all of the walls. If anyone is playing and finds a mistake in them please let me know.

    Now if you have read everything above good job and thank you. This is the first time I have actually written write up with length. I don’t know if I should do it again so if you want to give me tips on what to write about go for it. Thanks again.

    Additional Information


    After reading a post on a new comer I think, I read (something like this) “people like to play many different game types so why did you just put Slayer?” I don’t remember the person but I took this to heart and set this map up for ALL game types. Yes, even invasion and race. For invasion I made a special variant called Platform Invasion; creative no? My personal favorite games on this map are Slayer, Three-Plot, and Stockpile. So feel free to play any games you want and let me know how they turn out. Anything to make this map the best it can will help. Thank you.

    This is anice map, I am not a fan of the name but that is just me. :p I also like how there is nice scenery and a nice use of the Inclines and banks my only concern is the pic with all the tunnel braces,I worry it will be a death zone area because of the lack of cover but that is just me.

    I dont see where you got the name for this map. Though its kinda catchy haha, I would recommend you change it up. If you have the creativity to create these unique structures im sure you can come up with a more appealing name.

    The name comes from the fact the most of the map is made out of XXL platforms. I had tried to think of different names but, this one is original and I think it has a good ring to it. Thanks for the feedback though.

    I won't lie in my games I got on those hallways weren't that used but although they are open I do believe it flows fine and is not a big problem. If you do play on this map and you have troubles let me know and I'll be happy to fix it up. Thanks for the feedback.
