Most of the ForgeHub community probably has no idea who I am, but my moniker is Solo XIII and I am a very active member of the Halo 3 Forge Forum over at MLGpro.com. This map is my first and only release, but don't let that fool you. I am more than well-versed in map design, and have been a prolific designer over the past year. As many people will attest, Pipeline is one of the top maps, if not the top map, to come out of the most recent "H3FF Map Pack 2." What follows is copied from the original Pipeline thread on H3FF. Pipeline is a room-based, asymmetrical map built in the Crypt. It spans approximately two-thirds of the Crypt surface and promotes medium-ranged combat and teamwork. Movement between the three main rooms can happen along a multitude of pathways, and clever players will run circles around their opponents before landing that humiliating smack to the back of their head. Pipeline plays wonderfully for 4v4 and 2v2. Download Here Background This is the first real map I ever created, and a lot of credit should go to Sethiroth for encouraging me to continue working on it. He’s pretty much the reason it ever became playable. Pipeline was originally slated as a 1v1 map, but with some convincing, Seth got me to switch around my weapon-set and construct a few geometry changes that transformed Pipeline from a concept on my hard-drive to the 4v4 map we’ve come to love. The original design was heavily inspired by b0b43’s “Chromatic.” After logging a significant number of games on his map, I wanted to design a room-based map of my own. In sketchup, I created vertical divisions and then built a system of connected catwalks and elevated platforms that looped back on one another. Although I avoided the use of teleporters, I drew a lot of my ideas from the H:CE classic “Chill Out.” When all was said and done, I had this sky-bubble design: That was last July. It took a few months and the advent of “Ghost Merging” before I finally decided to pick up the design myself. I finished the first version in mid October and, after a week of pure customs on it, quickly decided to redesign the entire red side of the map. As I think anyone who played on the first version will agree, the redesign really opened up the map. Instead of the distinct difference between the styles of Red and Pink, the redesign was focused primarily on re-creating Red in the style of Pink, making the map feel more internally consistent. When the second Map Pack was still a suggestion, I decided to take Pipeline through one final change. I reforged the entire map, piece-by-piece, creating what I hope is one of the cleanest maps in the pack. Small modifications were made to the design in the remake, but the final product remains true to the original vision. It’s been a long road for Pipeline, but hopefully you will agree that the process was well worth the time spent. Wasted Mammoth... smells like spam... Congrats on first post. The map is cool I guess, not much flaws. It's actually really good. Doesnt look THAT escapable.. or how ever you spell it xp. I like that theres different levels, it gives that FUN feeling.
The map does look spectacular and I will DL. Great looking feel and the bridge is a very good part of the map. There is one thing I noticed (and i know im being picky but) the third pic from the bottom the coloums, large are a little off looking. Unless thats intended I apoligize now. Again great map.
I, along with many others, think this is the best 4v4 in the map pack. I remember playtesting an early version of this with you (which is when I started being involved in the H3FF community) and loving it. The redesign of red only made me love it more. It really does play spectacularly, and I'm glad that I was given the chance to offer suggestions and test this beauty of a map. Amazing job Solo.
in my opinion, i think most of the maps in mp1 and 2 are good, but half of them are way too fancy. All the nonsophisticated ones are so much better, in which pipeline is probly the best example. but dont brag about your map whether its one of the "top maps" or not mlgpro is certainly the place for you
