If you were to give the GIMP a percentage-of-photoshop rating (90% as powerful, etc), what would it be? I've never actually checked out the GIMP, though I've been curious.

Ways that we will not be disclosing here.

GIMP has it's ups and downs, but the main benefit, besides the cost ratio, is the ability for users to make their own plugins easily. I prefer it, but I'm more used to Photoshop when editing stuff.

    Rofl.
To me, GIMP is power. The power is just a little confusing.

Please add Fireworks to the list :D. Although I suppose it's basically the same thing as Photoshop, now that Adobe bought Macromedia.

    Fireworks has been added.

I used to use it, but it's primarily a line tool. I use Photoshop for serious photo editing, and GIMP for playing around in.

Open PS, Follow a tutorial (22pixels tutorials are great, start with those) learn from tutorial, do some more, combine together and you get something.

I prefer Photoshop because of the wealth of tutorials there are for practically anything... That being said, I believe there is a program called Gimpshop or something that is Gimp with a Photoshop interface... Or, you could get Photoshop here LoL...

Lol if you actually believed that that link was legit...
