PC: Halo 5 Forge Open Lobbies I (ExTerrestr1al) have been running some lobbies lately, in an effort to try and get more activity on the PC Forge's "open lobbies". For the most part, there are not very many good lobbies/rooms being run on a regular basis. They consist mostly of hosts who just want to play some niche gametype on some strange map or a very popular map that simplly isn't any good (lots of bad blood gultch remakes, for instance) The purpose of this thread is three-fold: To showcase above-average to great Forged maps, often times by members of this forum To host well-run lobbies (either using Forged or 343i maps), where players of varying skills can find great gameplay To serve as a landing place for people to meet up and organize PC Halo 5 Forge custom games Anyone interested in joining in on this effort, either by looking for lobbies run by myself (ExTerrestr1al), or by setting up your own lobbies, may want to follow some simple suggestions. "If you start it, they will come." Don't settle for what's out there. It may appear there are no good lobbies to join, so START ONE! Don't assume just because you don't see anyone playing Slayer on decent maps that you can't get anyone to join one if you start one up. It appears, that there is a need for more of these rooms and people don't want to start them themselves. So all we need is some dedicated hosts to take just a tiny bit of initiative. Descriptive GameTypes: This allows players to understand that you are running "X" type of room. Sets the expectation that you are not, for instance, going to just switch to infection because some kids ask you to. Slayer on Forge Maps Slayer on 343 Maps FFA Slayer on Forg Maps etc. (you get the point) Don't just start it and leave quickly. try to plan on being present for at least a few matches. Start new matches relatively quickly after the previous one ends. Players leave quickly if you screw around in the menus for very long. Try to enforce good behavior and team balancing to the best of your ability, so that your lobby is known as one to join the next time you start one up. Listen to feedback, but don't cave to people who ask "can we play this or that" constantly. your format is your format, and you should remind people that they are free to go find something to their liking. In conclusion, this is an effort to make due with what 343 have given us (graciously, I might add) on PC and to try and foster a better community there. I do not want to entertain "343 needs to do this, or else" comments. Start another thread if that's your take on all of this, please.
To start this off... Do people know if you can add friends from the PC side of things? I can see my old friends from Xbox 360 in-game, but do not know if you can add friends from in-game or somewhere else on PC...
There are a couple of ways to add friends - http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/xbox-live/add-friends
Thanks! Note: Chron... I have run several of your maps and have enjoyed all of them Players seem to be able to figure them out quickly and don't complain that they are new to them...
I'm thinking of creating a Spartan Company (assuming you can do this w/o the full game) for people who want to meet up on PC. What do you think? is that a good way to get people organized a little bit? It would be open to Xbox players as well, wiht the hopes that some of the players & forgers on this site will venture over to PC and hang out with this fledgling community
I am still having a lot of good matches on great Forge maps with people on PC. I would invite any of the XB1 players to venture out to the PC part of the Halo 5 world so that we can all mix together more. The best players on PC are also (usually) high ranked on xbox, so more of them would be great to see! Not to mention, I am hosting lobbies that are showcasing some of your maps. A few nights ago, I unboxed 3 or 4 extremely beautiful maps by Portaleer (sp?). One of them crashed the game twice for me, but they were all great layouts and as previously mentioned, ****ing amazing to look at! The more we host lobbies (on both platforms) which showcase amazing forging talent, the more that will bleed out into the general population and show them that maps can and should be better than they usually are. Not to mention, these master-forgers are not getting enough people to download and play their maps, so this promotes them! MSG me or post here if you are interested in joining one night. I will make arrangements to make sure you are included in the fun!
