Overwatch ranked was destroying my feels knowing that I had like a 63% win rate and had gone down two ranks from where I was placed. Then I looked at the rank distribution and saw that I was in the top 20% for the server and I became somewhat content.
PC master race Also how do you guys feel about the balance changes? I love new Zenyatta, and McCree is super strong again but requires good aim. Playing a tonne of him, super rewarding. Not brain dead like launch either. Anna is odd, a lot of utility in her kit which is real nice but I'm finding a lot of people are still a little incompetent with her (me included). DVA is also strong now. I didn't expect the toggle change on her barrier to be so good. Threw a Mei ult after DVA used barrier only for her to put it up again and I just thought '****'.
I personally think this is the worst state the game has been in post-launch. Ana is really cool. It's nice to see more CC and mechanics like anti-healing introduced into the game. It's only gonna make it more interesting. Dva needed a buff, but the new defense matrix is just annoying as **** to play against. I had a fight with a good Dva as Hanzo yesterday, and I literally couldn't do a single point of damage because she just used defense matrix every time I shot, and did a tiny bit of damage between every shot until I died. As for McCree, what the **** blizzard... In the developer post about the McCree changes, Jeff kaplan stated that they wanted to bring McCree's range up to that of a character like Soldier 76. So tell me, why the **** would I play a character that requires tracking, when I can just 1-2 shot from the same distance? Not only is McCree's left click too good now, but he has an ability that is completely useless. It is NEVER advantageous to use the fan of the hammer. It's just lopsided, overall poor design. I think Zen is in a good spot, although I don't like the ult change. It used to be one of the most rewarding abilities in the game to use properly, but now it's very reactionary. I'll never be impressed by a Zen ult ever again, and I think that's a disappointing design decision.
I'm in general agreement with @Xandrith in that this is probably the poorest state the game has been balance-wise. A few of the changes almost completely altered the current meta and the addition of a new hero on top of all these changes made it even more chaotic. Here are my abbreviated thoughts on the state of some heroes: McCree -Why was he changed at all? I felt that prior to the update he was in an okay place; he could still melt squishies but couldn't demolish tanks. Now I see him on both teams every match sniping out people constantly with 2-4 shots. They made his range equal to Soldier 76, then why play the Soldier outside of last ditch efforts to quickly contest a point? D.Va -Blizzard stated that prior to the patch she was the least picked hero which is why she got the changes she did. Now I can't play one match without having two of her on my team and the enemy team. The fact that Defense Grid can eat most ults and projectiles in the blink of an eye make her just ****ing annoying. This is on top of Defense Grid's long and wide-ass range and her high mobility just make her a nightmare for every hero (minus maybe Genji). The change to her guns help to push her over the edge considering that the hail of rounds she launches makes landing painful crits so easy you can practically shoot at their feet and crit. The only weapons that get my her grid force players to get in close (like Zarya's laser) which just lets D.Va nuke them. My friends and I have all been swapping to D.Va when a team starts rolling us, and it ****ing works every time we try. The only perk of her changes is watching to D.Vas duel each other is hilarious as they just stand there swapping grid up-times. Zenyatta -While I'd agree that his ult is a little more simple in its execution, it isn't the thing that excites me the most about the Zen changes. Zen went from bottom of my list of support options to second slot (Lucio is still my favorite). That extra 50 shield makes a huge difference and the buff to the charged orb attack is noticeable against tank targets. Also having orbs, especially Discord, apply faster is a welcomed change. Combine him with a good Ana player and the enemy team will fear you. Ana -I like her a lot but her average healing seems to be around Zenyatta's level, meaning that she doesn't replace a Lucio or Mercy but rather an off-support like Symmetra. With practice I can see a good Ana player making a team especially if paired with a solid Zenyatta player. Biggest issue I've seen with most Ana players is that they don't shoot teammates or only do it when necessary, preferring to play her like a weaker Widowmaker. Also, Sleep Darts are the best. Trobjorn -Would have preferred to see his turret's turn speed decreased than a straight 30% damage nerf. Symmetra -As a average player: Why did her turrets get nerfed? -As a Symmetra player: WHHHHHHYYYY???? Are her turrets' damage tied to Torbjorn's sentry or something? Unless you have all your eggs in one basket those turrets aren't killing **** now unless you baby sit them. Lucio -Quality of life change with the wall ride, but to a Lucio player it feels like a buff to mobility. Genji -**** Genji players. Only putting him on this list because they need to fix the dash -> melee + shuriken exploit combo. Doing 300 damage in an instant on such a short cooldown can't be intended. I'm seeing even more of them now since the update because they get off on annoying support players or something. Winston -Absolutely no reason to pick this tank now outside of hunting teams full of squishies or desperate hill contesting. He's out-damaged by every tank and out-tanked by every tank. Only thing he had going for him was Primal Rage but now I just sleep dart his ass leaving him hot and bothered.
Fan the hammer is beyond useless now. I like playing McCree, he used to be a stomper up close and now he stomps anyone anywhere if you're half-decent with your aim so perhaps you're right there. I still would have liked a speed buff on DVA's primary fire, and while I think the defense matrix makes her amazingly strong now, it is as you say, super frustrating. One of the 'tips' they have for Zen is that you can knock him away when he's ulting. Yeah not so much anymore. Think the speed on it is a little overkill.
Name on PC: Albatrossy#1893. Currently Platinum, climbing to Diamond. Mostly DPS, but I can also play support or Zarya.
Pff... please. I wish they kept track of a persons stats of playing character and killing that same character as them. My Phara record would be ridiculous. My Gengu record would be atrocious.
I will say that while I can play pharah really well, I cannot usually win pharah battles consistently I recently picked up lucio and roadhog
Nice yeah. I got curious about my stats with Phara this season. I am number 5 in the world in eliminations per game and somehow I have a game with 69 direct rocket hits. My Mcree finally doesn't suck. Spending over 20 hours on a character will do that.
Does anyone still play this on xbone? I've been going solo since season 1 and can't get out of platinum (64 in s1). I main zarya, but I can also play support or dps.
