RainforestSOS.org [rainforestsos][/rainforestsos] We're (most of us) young people, who are going to be living on this planet for many long years to come. We're also a group of passionate gamers who care about our community. We have the power to make a difference in whatever cause we might choose to take up, collectively. As of yet, we haven't chosen to do so. I'd like to ask those of you who stop by this thread to take a few moments to watch the video above, and to register your support for the world's rainforests. I am not about to suggest that this is the totem for Forge Hub to gather behind. But I do hope that you might be inspired by our potential, and consider any number of other charitable causes we might, as a community of peers, rally behind - and help change the world for the better. Let's chose a cause. Let's use the power of our numbers, connected through innumerable games played together, through heated discussion together, and through collaborative projects that have spanned months. Let's do... more. Something we can be immeasurably proud of for the rest of our lives. What's it to be?
Support the cause... Support the movement... I've been trying to help anyway I can for awhile now, Just sometimes it's hard to get people to rally behind you. Maybe, posting this will help the community get aware of the problems caused.
Put this in the Home Page, you will get 10,000 + Supporters for sure... I really suggest you do it... I also support it, my parents installed Solar Panels on our roof, it heats up half of our house.
Hell yeah put this on the home page, or some shiny button that leads to a great presentation. I'd love to see an official focus point for us to rally behind. I think there's many, many people here who care a great deal about the world around them. So, Shock, are you asking for possible worthy causes, or are you rallying behind this one? (you know what... I don't think I have ever heard PC actually speak before.) If the former is the case, I am partial to Oxfam myself.
I'm asking for people to discuss a cause - the example in the OP is really just motivational, you're restricted to registering your support on that website. Nitrous raised this concept a short while ago and linked to a website where you can see an up to date total for a specific group's cause. He suggested targeting malaria at the time. I'm hoping he'll stop by in this thread later.
I think the cause of forgehub is to support forging. while i don't doubt that rainforests need protecting...i really doubt that this 'cause' will last longer than a week. Even if you put it on the homepage. People might click something to say "oh i support this" but in reality they probably don't give a ****. And to prove that this won't work, just look at facebook groups. When have facebook groups accomplished anything? I'm talking about the "1,000,000 for a cure for cancer!" "1,000,000 for barack obama" "i support the fight against aids" etc. etc.
Though I do not agree humans cause global warming, I do agree that deforestation must be stopped. This is definitely something I support. Damn those greedy farmers and loggers!
