This is my entry for Bungie's Forgetacular competition. My goal was to create a small, symmetric arena optimized for competitive team games. The map is located inside a giant well, with sloping walls that funnel down to the water below. The structure is small and detailed, with*multiple pathways through each space for you to explore. There are also many interesting "trick" jumps throughout the map. Here, fortune favors the brave: most jumps are quite safe, but a misstep on some of the trickier, more rewarding ones will send you tumbling into the oubliette. Here is a top view showing the map layout: Starting at the left of the main deck and going clockwise, the areas are the red base, red bridges, purple walkway, green bunker, blue base, blue bridges, yellow walkway, and the orange bunker. A view across the map, taken from above the green bunker looking toward the orange bunker. The map is symmetric across a diagonal, so the structures to the "right" and "left" are the same whether you start in the red or blue base. The center map. Neutral objectives spawn on the center of the bridge, with the rocket launcher as a point of contention below. Players may jump to the top center using the triangular banks and the center crates, which also provide interesting cover for firefights on the main deck. The bridge gives you a commanding view of the map, but gives opponents a commanding view of your noggin. The red and blue bases provide some cover to the front, but are quite exposed on the upper floor. The health pack is visible from across the map, so make sure no one is looking before you grab it. The base provides easy access to the upper and lower bridges, the first or second floor of the neighboring bunker, and the main deck. The orange and green bunkers consist of a relatively enclosed bottom floor and an almost completely exposed top floor. The levels are connected by a spiral ramp at the back of the bunker. Behind each bunker, a shotgun is placed at the end of a long, unprotected walkway. It's a valuable prize, but requires running out in the open to pick it up. The upper bridge from each base provides the fastest path to the opposing team's bunker. It is also the most visible path, with only mediocre cover. Jumping off the right side of this bridge will land you back on the main deck; off the left will drop you onto the low bridge. The low bridge is below the level of the main deck, and somewhat obscured from it. This bridge connects to the back walkway, where a lucky sniper might catch someone making a dash for the shotgun unawares. Weapons on this map: 4 DMRs 4 Fragmentation grenades 4 Plasma grenades 2 Concussion rifles 2 Magnums 2 Needle rifles 2 Needlers 2 Shotguns 2 Sniper rifles 1 Rocket launcher Due to the map's small size, the power weapons (sniper rifles, shotguns, and rocket launcher) are all ammo-starved. Go ahead, give Oubliette a try on your favorite game type. The map encourages fast-paced battles from a variety of encounters. Also, look around for trick jumps: I've tried to make sure that the obvious paths aren't the only ways to get between sections or between floors. Thanks for looking!
it looks well forged, but incredibly confusing. I also think that given the CQC in a fair bit, the rocket launcher would be just too o/p Same goes for the sniper and that given the multiple layers in the map the sniper would be fairly useless Non the less, a very well forged map, with some promising looking gameplay and aesthetics. Good luck!
