When you go to reload your map, just make sure you reselect it. What's the problem? Just for safety, go and check the place you were working on. If you notice it's all screwed up, don't save it.
Pros: . Phasing (I jizzed a little) . Coliseum walls (wow they're big) . Pushing the left stick in for fine adjustments (smoothness for once!) . Glass windows . Rotation snap (except I always click 'x' when i try to change it) . One way doors ( the blue side is hard to see though) . So many little things I was happy about. Cons: . The fact that you keep moving when you try to stop yourself in monitor mode and you turn into spartan and kill yourself. (screw fall damage) . The fact that it is more tedious to set your map up (weapons, health packs, armor abilities, grenades, spawns etc. . How you can't push the object away from you (when you're in tight spaces this becomes a problem) One Thought: . In halo 3 you were able to ghost merge, but when you let go you were unable to pick it up again. I am struggling to remember that in reach, you can keep picking it up. I always just frustrate myself, but when I remember, I find it really easy to position things =P.
Yes it is. It's horrible. It rotates objects relative to the world instead of relative to the object (depends on the object actually). As you can see, it doesn't work with the glass cover object, but it would work if you were to use a regular square block.
Same thoughts for me . I also do not get why i have to find the object to "delete all" For example i used up the special fx lights and i forgot where i put them. So there is no way to delete it if u do not find it.
Is anyone else disappointed that there was no custom game matchmaking for reach? I heard a rumor that this was going to be supported in reach and it sucks that you won't be able to host/join public custom games. Most everything in the new forge setup is an improvement but it seems nothing was added for more accessible matchmaking.
hm. well I'd assume that the angle on the glass isn't 45 degrees. Try setting the snape to 30 and try again.
Never really thought about it till now. I remember in a few tony hawk games you could create and join other people's custom games cuz it was supported in matchmaking. Had so much fun. I think Reach woulda been at least 1.5x better if it had custom games matchmaking. Seriously, that's all I do... besides forge, of course... and occasionally campaign. AND every so often regular matchmaking cuz none of my friends are online or willing to play customs
Pros: Better editor experience overall More in depth controls with game types (even if its a bit hard to learn at first) Forge world _is_ awesomely huge (I can't even start anything without getting a new idea) Cons: Wheres all my "stuff"? They had to get rid of all of it to make the budget bigger so I can fill their levels with what, camping stools? -Along that same note, non forge world levels feel empty, but firefight levels have tons of junk in them that I want to play with. Much/all of the forge world maps are nothing but gray blah (with some design on them, but who cares) Quite a few of the pre-assembled pieces don't snap together very well. What I would like to see: More scenery (things that can get knocked around during gameplay) Item grouping duplication Presets in the B menu, such as a natural fixed/phased/natural/UNCHANGED or an XYZ/angle lock Obviously I'm not holding my breath
Most people probably wouldn't even use customs matchmaking, because for every person with a halfway decent map, there would be 10 more with maps that are either unplayable, unbalanced, or just a big ****.
I don't think you understand. It's working fine on certain objects, which means that I'm doing it right. Whether it will work or not depends on the angle and the object. If you'll notice, I rotated it to the left first. Say I rotate it to the right instead. It might actually work if I did it that way, or visa versa. It only works sometimes.
Honestly, it's not too big of a deal. it's only buggy with certain objects, like the glass cover, and you still have the ability to set the XYZ coordinates of each object, so if snap doesn't work, there's another solution. Or you can do it the H3 way and make a brace. * *kidding
When something doesn't look right snapped at 45 it usually looks right snapped at 30 and will certainly look right at 15/5.
Halo Reach forge is awesome except for one little problem. When you set the coordinates, if you place two objects, having the same coordinate height, they won't have the same height. They will be either a tiny bit too high or too low. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong?
Nothing is wrong, the problem is objects of different Y Sizes will be higher up or lower down. I think that Y is the Y co-ordinate of the mid-point of the object, so a larger object will have the same Y Co-ordinate but will extend beyond the smaller one.
The 'certain objects' you are using don't have a flat side at 30 degress, such as that window cover you were showing.
I was reading over this thread and I noticed your post! I haven't realized that there wasn't a breakable pallet. But is there still a pallet? I should check myself anyways... EDIT: I just realized how little maps there available to forge on...nothing to complain about though, since Forge World will keep me satisfied.
I think Its great, I never got on with Halo 3's forge. but this is pretty nice and easy to use, so far anyway It would be nice if there were a few extra things, like a undo button, a copy and paste option and a fine adjustment mode that works better!
